Customer has had several install problems with Nways.
Fresh install of AIX4.3.3, NV5.x.?, and Nways V2.
THe OStore is running apparently OK but te 8250-60, Jjim, and perhaps
ATM code was not installed....the customer chose the "device" install
method rather than the "application" install method.
I pointed out how to install the needed components from the install CD
using SMIT. Also, the Acrobat is on the CD but may not be applicable
for AIX433...I gave instruction as to what to look for(install message)_
and then obtain the proper Pkg from the Internet.
The machine is using an ATM interface even though it also has a TR intf
but it is not configured. The ATM network is not stable at this time so
the Nways install and operation may have to wait until network is stable
. Customer will not be in on Friday but will call back on Monday with
status update or for further assistance.

Customer had multiple errors relating to the partial install and
subsequent package installs. Customer chose from my previous
recommendation to remove the present install and re-install using the
"application" method.
CUstomer has Java v1.1.8 installed by virute of the AIX system and was n
ot sure if v1.1.6 needed to be installed instead.
I indicated that the v1.1.8 should be fine and would only be used by
Nways install process since Nways installs a separate jre appropriate
for Nways operation.
Customer wondering about license server problems. I indicated that the
i4llmd process should be running and "i4blt -ll" should indicate the
licensed installed.
I also gave customer info on configuring a new license server if the
present configuration failed to start properly.
CUstomer will proceed with install and call back with status update or
for further assistance.

Customer called and left message indicating that she had reinstalled
Nways V2 and everything semed to be OK this time...except she is
getting a license messge when going to the HUB mgr application.
I called cusotmer to go over license server setup and license
enrollment.
System is AIX4.3.3 and i4llmd processes running OK.
When executing "i4blt -l" the message says no license server found.
I stepped customer through the ifor server configuration(i4config)
but the result was the same.
I conferenced AIX support on the call with customer and opened a
PMR with AIX(PMR 01806, 499).
AIX is suggesting an update to the ifor package.
Asked that customer call back when AIX process complete.

Customer has PMR 01806, 499 open with AIX Support to resolve the IFORLS
problem. The APAR and PTF called for by AIX support was APAR IY04448
and PTF U466561. The ifor_ls.compat.cli v4.3.2 that is on the customer
machin needs to be removed. Since it is listed as a pre-req to all the
Nways packages, the removeal of Nways is required.
Customer is not pleased.
Customer removing Nways and installing iforls updates before installing
Nways again.
Customer will advise when complete or needing additional assistance.

Researching iforls compatibility problem on AIX 4.3.3 system with Nways.
Installed the iforls 4.3.3 PTF U466561 on my test AIX 4.3.2 system and
the i4blt works OK(the licesne server works OK).
Customer has talked with AIX support this morning and will again remove
Nways and iforls.compat.cli 4.3.2 and install iforls.compat.cli.4.3.3
PTF and APAR and check license server operation. If not OK, ifor has
a problem to be fixed. If OK, customer will install Nways and hopefully
the ifor.compat.cli 4.3.2 will not be installed due to the higher level
already installed and Nways will complete install and operate with the
license server OK.
I did inform customer that Nways was not officially supported on
AIX 4.3.3 but we were trying to arrive at a work-around solution for
this problem. If not possible, the customer understands that the Nways
is not supported at this AIX level.
Waiting for customer call back.

Customer went through removal of Nways again and working with AIX
support to get a working IFOR_LS installed that is not overridden by
Nways install.
The customer installed the IFORLS packages from the AIX433 media:
ifor_ls.base
ifor_ls.client
ifor_ls.compat.cli v4.3.2 (still from the AIX433 media)
ifor_ls.compat.gui v4.3.2 "
ifor_ls.msg.en_US
Then customer installed APAR IY04448 and PTF U466561 for IFORLS.
Following this the IFORLS server worked OK and responded to "i4blt -ls".
Then Nways V2 was installed which also installed automatically the
ifor_ls_html.en_US.base.cli v4.3.2
ifor_ls.libraries v4.3.2
Following(and even during) the install, the IFORLS server does NOT
work anymore....."IFORLS server not found"
Working with AIX support, customer installed update from AIX433 media:
ifor_ls_html.en_US.base.cli v4.3.3.0
Then executes: i4cfg -stop
slibclean
Then the following files were updated(replaced) through a restore:
restore -xvqf //usr/sys/inst.images/bos.rte/ifor_ls_4.3.3
.0.bff /usr/opt/ifor/ls/os/aix/dll/libi4shrndl.a
(also /usr/opt/ifor/ls/os/aix/dll/libi4shripcs)
(also /usr/opt/ifor/ls/os/aix/dll/libi4shrshl.a)
Then executed: i4cfg -start
The IFORLS server then responds again as expected to "i4blt -ll"
The enrollment of the Nways licenses(trial) result in the following
error message:
"CLN-83:incorrect target and password"
Files from customer machine emailed to me and then to development(Margie
) for analysis:
i4ls.ini
output from i4blt -ls
output from i4nat -l
4111036_2_0.ecf
Waiting for response from development.

Gathering files from customer machine to forward to development.
Results from development indicate that the licenses, including the trial
licenses, are invalid with the new level of IFOR_LS which comes with
AIX4.3.3 version.
Customer has provided replacement licenses for this customer to try and
report back status. I have emailed updated licenses to customer who will
try on machine next week when in account.

I called customer to go over the actual process used to get the new
enrollment files onto the AIX platform. The customer had very carefully
received, detached from the Notes email, and FTP'd, in BINARY, to the
AIX platform. It turns out that the BINARY transfer actually preserved
the "corruption" in the form of DOS/Notes platform formatting
characters.
I had customer FTP the files using ASCII mode and the enrollment went
OK and the applications run without license error messages.
The customer will now run with Trial licenses until receiving the
permanent licenses.
PMR closed.
