Do I need PSF/AIX with PSM if the printers are controlled by PSM?
Do I need PSF on the RS/6000 to print AFP documents through PSM?
Q:
PSM does not drive printers itself. It works with either AIX backend
programs or PSF/AIX V2. So if you want to drive IPDS printers, or if
you need the datastream transforms with PSF/AIX, or if you want to
print AFPDS to PCL or PPDS printers, you will also need to install
PSF/AIX. So the answer to your question is yes, you will need PSF/AIX
on the RS/6000 to print AFP documents to PSM-managed printers.
Note that PSM and PSF/AIX have been withdrawn from marketing
effective 11 Dec 1998; they will continue to receive defect
support until 31 Jan 2001. The replacement product is InfoPrint
Manager 3.1 (5648-B34).
