This is a question on PSF for AIX.
The customer would like to use a 3130 printer to print
Postscript files. Does any of the PSF products on the RS/6000
support the conversion of PS input to IPDS output? Thanks.
A:
You can definitely print PostScript files on a 3130 using PSF/AIX.
PSF/AIX V2 supports the conversion of PostScript Level 1 and Level 2
to AFPDS (which is device independent). PSF turns the AFPDS to
device-dependent IPDS at print time.
NOTE: If there are any device specific instructions in the PostScript
(such as to change bin or change to/from duplex), those will not be
recognized. The file will still print, but will use the bin and
duplexing option as specified in the form definition.
I hope that helps. Please reopen if you have additional questions.
