/ is full; ran ptfdir_clean to remove files and directories

Question:

Env:    3.2.5.

Desc:   The root (/) filesystem is full.  The customer has removed
        smit.log and smit.script with negligible effect.  The root
        filesystem has 12Mb in it.

Action: Ran the following command to look for files that belong to the
        / filesystem that contain more than 30 512-byte blocks (about
        15kb):

        \# find / -xdev -size +30 -ls
        It produced the following files that seemed out of the ordinary:

/dev/core
/lpp/bos/inst_U\#\#\#\#\#\#.save/update1
/lpp/bos/inst_U\#\#\#\#\#\#.save/update2
/lpp/bos/inst_U\.save/update1
...

        Removed the core file above.

        There were some 50+ directories under /lpp/bos called
        inst_U\#\#\#\#\#\#.save, where U\#\#\#\#\#\# was a PTF number.

        These files come from APPLIED PTFs.  We can check on each with:
        \#lslpp -h U\#\#\#\#\#\#  (it will say APPLY)

        We can COMMIT all applied PTF with:
        \# installp 2>&1 -cgX all

        This is found in SMIT via the following path:
        smit -> Software Installation & Maintenance ->
        Manage Applied Software (List, Commit, Reject, Remove) ->
        Commit Applied Software (Remove Previous Version)

        We can then clean up those directories with ptfdir_clean:

NOTE: DO NOT run ptfdir_clean on a machine that is used as a /usr 
      server or diskless workstation server.
                \# /usr/sbin/ptfdir_clean -y

        The customer did that and reported that it removed some 3Mb
        worth of files and directories from /.
