getting 1800-036 trying to change printer queue

 PROBLEM:
        Every time I go into SMIT and try to change/show print
        queue characteristics I get ODM error 1800-036

*ACTION TAKEN:
        Looked in /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/smit - the files
        were all 4096 bytes in size which is a clean slate - how
        they should be before any queues are ever added to the
        system!

        Did a "hostname" and found out your hostname was rs/6000-k
        When you install AIX it tries to create a soft link from:

        /var/spool/lpd/pio/\  -> /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local

        With a "/" in the hostname this would try referring to a
        non-existent subdirectory - and would be unable to create the
        needed link.

        smit hostname
           set the hostname
                
        Changed the hostname to something without / in it.

        ln -s /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local /var/spool/lpd/pio/\

        Now removed and readded your print queue.  The ODM files in
        /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/smit grew to indicate entries had
        been added into them.  You can now use smit chpq to alter
        the charactertics of queues added after the above steps.
