Having problems with RS 530: 1820-037 error internal system error

Question:

AIX level 3.2.3E 
RISC/6000 model 530

I am trying to change the characteristics through SMIT of a
diskless workstation model 220, which had been moved to another 
location.  I am trying to change the IP address, and when I go
through SMIT I get the error:

  1820-037 An internal error or system error has occurred.  
  See the log file for further information.

In my SMIT log I have the following error:

  1800-083 Data error: could not find matching ring
  field value for corresponding Command_to_Discover value.

Response:

This problem has been reported before and concerns a problem with
"lsdclient".  The fix for this problem is IX33510.

As a workaround, you could make the following changes in 
/usr/sbin/lsdclient at line 541:

Change:  out_format 62 "$j" "SMIT_swap"
  TO     out_format 62 "$sfile" "SMIT_swap"

While the above workaround should correct the problem, you should 
consider ordering the PTF or upgrading to AIX 3.2.4 or higher.
