Instructions for MP Kernel Fix:

Recent reports here on CompuServe, as well as further in-house 
testing, has revealed to us that the multiprocessor (MP) kernel
which shipped with the October Beta version of Windows NT, had 
some notable problems. 

As a direct result of this we have developed a new MP specific
kernel.  This change will not affect uniprocessor machines
whatsoever.

To install this new kernel:

DDK customers running CHECKED builds
====================================
File needed: SMPCHK.ZIP from Library 2

  UnZIP to a directory named "CHECKED" then:

    A. WYSE MP systems:
    
       1) Copy CHECKED\NTOSKRNL.EXE to \NT\SYSTEM\NTOSKRNL.EXE.
       2) Copy CHECKED\HALWYSE7.DLL to \NT\SYSTEM\HAL.DLL.  
       3) Reboot your machine.

    B. Any other MP system:

       1) Copy CHECKED\NTOSKRNL.EXE to \NT\SYSTEM\NTOSKRNL.EXE.
       2) Reboot your machine.


All non-DDK customers or DDK customers running FREE builds (most people)

File needed: SMPFRE.ZIP from Library 2

  UnZIP to a directory named "FREE" then:

    A. If you are running a WYSE MP system:

       1) Copy FREE\NTKRNLMP.EXE to \NT\SYSTEM\NTOSKRNL.EXE.
       2) Copy FREE\HALWYSE7.DLL to \NT\SYSTEM\HAL.DLL.
       3) Reboot your machine.
 
    B. If you are running any other MP system:

       1) Copy FREE\NTKRNLMP.EXE to \NT\SYSTEM\NTOSKRNL.EXE.
       2) Reboot your machine.
