SETUP
If you have installed a previous version of the Performance
Data Collection tools you should stop the Performance Data
Collection services before running setup. After setup
is complete choose System->Properties->Install Agent to
upgrade the Performance Data Collection agent on each server
you are collecting data from. An alternative method would
be to stop the PDCAGENT service and copy the new
PDCAGENT.EXE file to the SYSTEM32 directory on all systems
you are collecting data from.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 workstation or server.
ODBC Drivers are not included. If you are going to use a
database other than Microsoft Access you must install the
ODBC drivers and configure a System Data Source Name using
the ODBC manager.

REVISIONS
v1.01
Added print and print preview capability
Added ability to monitor for alarm conditions
such as low disk, high processor utilzation, etc.
Modified on-line help.
Added process monitor to View menu.

KNOWN PROBLEMS
The InstallShield Express application used to create the
setup disks does not create the folder on Windows NT 4.0
Server. To create the folder create links to the following
files;

	(install directory)\ReadMe.txt.txt
	(install directory)\PerfMgr.hlp
	(install directory)\PerfMgr.exe

The UnInstall link has the following properties
	C:\WINNT35\UNINST.EXE
           -f(install directory)\DeIsL1.isu
	   -c(install directory)\_ISREG32.DLL

Certain disk performance counters (most of them) are
disabled by default on Windows NT 3.51. To enable disk
performance counters you have to run the command line
DISKPERF -Y then reboot the system.

The Performance Data Collection Agent caches data on
the local drive in a file named PDCAGENT.CAC. If the
Performance Data Collection Server process is turned
off for long periods of time the Agent will cache the
counter values in this file, which could create a
problem if the system have limited space. You should
disable the Agent service using the Services applet
until the Performance Data Collection Server can be
brought back on-line.

ODBC Data Sources cannot be remotely managed. The
ODBC Database tab on the Database dialog provides a
hook in to the ODBC Data Source manager. The ODBC
Data Source manager is not remoted.

The Performance Data Collection Server has been tested
with Microsoft Access database files and Microsoft SQL
Server ODBC connections. It has not been tested and
proven compatible with other ODBC data sources.
