Version 1.0

This README.TXT file contains information necessary
to install and use AnnuMate. It is divided
into the following four sections:

1. Introduction
2. Packing list
3. Installing AnnuMate
4. Other Information

1.Introduction
-----------------------------------------------------------

AnnuMate is an annual event manager. You enter anniversary
and birthday dates and AnnuMate takes care of reminding you
when the event is about to take place each year.

It also calculates various trivia type information for
you such as the day of the week that the event occurred, and
the exact number of days since the event happened.

For birthday entries, AnnuMate also calculates the
person's astrological sign and her/his number of years left
   to live (statistically, of course).

2.	Packing list
-----------------------------------------------------------

The file ANNUMATE.ZIP contains the following files:

      File Name Description
      ------------ -----------------------------------------
      ANNUMATE.EXE The AnnuMate executable

      ANNUMATE.HLP AnnuMate's help file

      README.TXT This file

REGISTER.WRI The registration file (please register!)

SAMPLE.ANU A sample AnnuMate file with some preset
                     events.
BWCC.DLL A DLL file that AnnuMate needs to run
                     properly

The first time you run AnnuMate, a file called TIMER.TXT
will be created in AnnuMate's home directory. It tells
AnnuMate about the last time it checked the list of entries
to remind you about an upcoming event. It is best to leave
this file alone--AnnuMate takes care of it automatically.

3.	Installing AnnuMate
-----------------------------------------------------------

   Step 1: Unzip!
   ---------------

Use PKUNZIP (or WinZip) to unzip all the AnnuMate files into
      an appropriate directory. For example,

         C:\ANNUMATE> pkunzip annumate.zip

All the files should be kept in the same directory.

   Step 2: Add Program Item
   -------------------------

In Windows 3.1, add ANNUMATE.EXE as a program item to an
      appropriate Program Manager group.

Normally you'll want to add this item to the "StartUp"
      group as a minimized application:

      a. Activate the "StartUp" group.

      b. Select File|New Item

      c. Select Browse and then C:\ANNUMATE\ANNUMATE.EXE

      d. Set the program parameters:

         Description : AnnuMate
         Command line : C:\ANNUMATE\ANNUMATE.EXE sample.anu
         Working Directory : C:\ANNUMATE
         Shortcut Key: : none
               [Checked] Run Minimized

Notice that the Command Line has the "sample.anu" file
added at the end. If you specify such a file, AnnuMate
will always start and automatically load that file.
Configured this way, AnnuMate will always start working
for you as soon as you enter Windows.

   Step 3: Set Timezone stuff
   ---------------------------

Because of the way AnnuMate uses the system time to know
when to remind you of upcoming events, you must set the
      timezone environment variable appropriately in
AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you don't, the time of day that
you will be notified will be off by a few hours.

Here are some sample lines to insert into AUTOEXEC.BAT
      depending on your time zone:

         You Location Line in AUTOEXEC.BAT
         --------------- --------------------
         Los Angeles SET TZ=PST8PDT
         Denver SET TZ=MST7MDT
         Arizona SET TZ=MST7
         Chicago SET TZ=CST6CDT
         New York SET TZ=EST5EDT
         London SET TZ=GMT0BST
         Amsterdam SET TZ=MET-1DST
         Moscow SET TZ=MSK-3MSD
         Aukland SET TZ=NZT-13

Step 4: If you have problems...
   --------------------------------

You may have an old version of BWCC.DLL in your
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Copy the version from
AnnuMate's home directory on to the old one.

If problems persist, contact me at the E-mail address
   listed below.
