PowerCalc - A Windows-based desktop calculator with basic and advanced calculation facilities. PowerCalc can remain Always on Top and can be used in conjunction with other applications by using the Inject and Extract features. Data stored in up to ten memories can be used directly within calculations. A Descriptive Statistics panel adds to the rich functionality of this very flexible applet.

Use of a mouse is highly recommended.

1) Installation

You install PowerCalc by running the SETUP.EXE file on the distribution disk. Run directly from File Manager, or from the Run Command in Program Manager (File Menu): Type a:\setup in the Run Command dialogue box.

The Setup procedure will ask you which directory in which to install PowerCalc. The WINDOWS directory is offered as a default and this should be accepted. You can install PowerCalc in any other directory, but should you do so you will need to move the Help file (CALC_H.HLP) into the WINDOWS directory - this is where PowerCalc expects to find its Help file.

2) INI File

The first time you run PowerCalc an INI file (CALC_X.INI) is created in your WINDOWS directory. This file is a binary file and, unlike most other INI files, cannot be edited with a text editor. If you try to edit the INI file it will become corrupted and PowerCalc will not function. Under these circumstances you must delete the INI file. The next time you run PowerCalc a new INI file will be created. Note that your customised settings for Colour, Tax Rate, etc will be reset to their default values. The INI file also contains your Registration Details, so if you delete it PowerCalc will be Unregistered.

 * Keep a separate note of your Registration Details *

3) File List

The following files are required to run PowerCalc:

VBRUN300.DLL
VER.DLL
THREED.VBX

CALC2.EXE
CALC_H.HLP

The first three files should be in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory, the EXE file and the HLP file should ideally be in the WINDOWS directory. If you obtain uncompressed versions of these files they can be copied directly into the appropriate directories.

4) Clean Up

When PowerCalc has been installed the file SETUP1.EXE remains in the WINDOWS directory. This file can be deleted.

5) Registration

Please see the Shareware topic in the Help file for details of how to register PowerCalc.
