This package introduces a first version of fractal image compressor and decompressor
for grayscale images. It has an intuitively obvious interface. This program gives a
compression ratio for grayscale images about 15:1.
To encode an image you have to open a *.bmp or *.tif file and start calculations.
You can specify encoding setting: method of compression, thread priority, and number
of bits for brightness and contrast to use.
Full compression is very slow but gives a better quality of encoded image. Using M.C.
compression you can achieve a faster compression by variation of its parameter from 10
up to 100.
After compression is completed, you must save the encoded image in *.ifs file.
To decode an image you have to open a *.ifs file and increase the number of itera-
tions. The required image will appear after about 5-6 iterations. After that, you can
save this image in BMP format.
