1. WHAT IS CATRAXX?
----------------------------------------

CATraxx is a powerful 32-bit Windows application designed to
help you catalog and manage your music collection. Using CATraxx
you can quickly catalog CDs by downloading disc data from the
Internet CDDB database. CATraxx is easy-to-use for the amateur,
with sophisticated features for the professional.

CATraxx has a comprehensive set of fields for both albums and
tracks, enabling you to catalog information like artist, album
title, format (CDs, vinyl records, cassettes, videos etc.),
release year, label, catalog number, purchase price, current
value, music category, status (own, want, for sale etc.),
condition, playing time, song titles, songwriters, producers,
recording studios, musicians and instruments. You can store
an image of the album cover, attach a MP3 file to each track,
and add your own personal comments for both albums and tracks.

You can work with an unlimited number of databases. This
means you can split your collection into different catalogs
and organize it to meet your needs. CATraxx allows you to
change the name of all data fields. For example, you might want
to rename Artist to Performer, Songwriter to Composer, Format
to Media, or Musicians to Soloists. You can hide the fields you
don't want to use. These fields will disappear from all windows,
menus, lists etc. This way you can customize the database to
suit your needs.

You can effectively search the database for information that
you require. Search in all fields with any combination of
fields and operators. In addition, CATraxx lets you cross
reference up to five fields. This is an extremely flexible
way to search and query data.

The report designer lets you create almost any type of report.
Use one of the pre-defined reports, or create your own from
scratch. You have full control over data fields, groups, sort
order, columns, fonts, colors, paper size, margins and print
orientation. CATraxx lets you preview reports on screen before
printing. Using CATraxx you can easily create professional
looking reports with exactly the layout you want.

With the HTML Generator you can quickly generate documents to
be published on the World Wide Web. The loan module lets you
keep track of albums on loan. Check the program periodically
to see what is still out on loan. You will always know who has
what and since when.

The statistics function allows you to analyze your collection
in a variety of ways. CATraxx lets you track both initial
investment and the value of your collection. Use the backup
function to make backup copies of your valuable data. With
the built-in CD controller you can control the playback of
audio CDs in your CD-ROM player.

CATraxx uses popup menus for quick feature access and
navigation. CATraxx comes with a sample database to get you
started and a comprehensive context sensitive on-line help
system.

2. FEE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF SHAREWARE VERSION
----------------------------------------------------

Disk Vendors, Shareware Distributors and BBS(s) may have
charged a nominal fee for the distribution of the shareware
version of CATraxx. This fee does not constitute payment for
the licensed version of CATraxx, and does not entitle the
end-user to use the shareware version for longer than the
30-day evaluation period.

5. VERSION HISTORY
----------------------------------------------------

4.11.00 - May 23, 2000

* It is now possible to specify which words that should not be
  capitalized when downloading disc data (in the 'Download from
  CDDB' window, choose 'Do not Capitalize' from the Options menu).
* The 'Use Lineup' command is now available when the Track View
  is active.
* The 'Check for Update' command now uses the proxy settings
  specified in Preferences.
* BUG FIX: On some NT 4 systems, the left part of tree view lists
  had a black background.
* BUG FIX: Read-only license file not accepted.
* BUG FIX: The program didn't work with Windows Media Player 7 Beta.
* BUG FIX: CD AutoPlay not disabled while CATraxx was running.
* BUG FIX: The Track View window sometimes disappeared if a grouping
  definition was active.

  in Show Info dialog box in CD Player.
* Various minor fixes and enhancements.

4.10.00 - May 3, 2000

* CATraxx now uses CDDB2. The new CDDB2 database begins with the
  massive database already established for CDDB, and updates it
  with a great deal more information for each disc, including
  expanded album and track-by-track credits, genres, web-links,
  and segments. Here is an overview of the most interesting new
  CDDB2 features for CATraxx users:
  - Separate Artist and Title fields. This means that you can
    finally say goodbye to problems with varying artist/title
    separators when downloading compilation CDs.
  - New album fields: Release year, Label, and Compilation.
  - New track fields: Year, Beats per Minute, and Lyrics.
  - Better genre classifications (CDDB2 has 252 genres and
    sub-genres, with categories for metal, house and rap among
    others).
  - Credits; a list of persons/companies with their roles, for
    example composer, director, producer, engineer, studio, and
    musicians/instruments.
  - Other nice features like links to artist sites and a music
    browser (open the Sites menu to use these features).
* You can download disc data from the main window (choose
  New - Query CDDB from the Album menu) if you don't want to use
  the separate Download from CDDB window.
* You can update existing CDs by downloading additional information
  from CDDB (choose Update - Query CDDB from the Album menu).
  NOTE! You will have the rescan the CD for this to work.
* You can now preview the disc data before a CD is submitted to CDDB.
* Simplified the data entry process. You no longer have to use a
  separate dialog box to register credits information like songwriter,
  producer and musician. Simply type the information directly into
  the list (the same way you register artists).
* The Genre/Sub-genre fields (previously called Category/Sub-category)
  are now linked together. If you select a genre, for example House,
  only the sub-genres belonging to this genre are available in the
  Sub-genre list.
* New track fields: Author, Copyright, Librettist, Publisher, Score,
  Songwriter (Music & Lyrics), Conductor, Director, Orchestrator,
  Assistant Engineer, Associate Producer, Coproduser, Executive
  Producer and Programming.
* Track.Songwriter renamed to Track.Author/Publisher.
* Track.Music by renamed to Track.Composer.
* Track.Lyrics by renamed to Track.Lyricist.
* Album.Category renamed to Album.Genre.
* Album.Sub-category renamed to Album.Sub-genre.
* Track.Category renamed to Track.Genre.
* Track.Sub-category renamed to Track.Sub-genre.
* Album.Sort by renamed to Album.Title Sort.
* Track.Sort by renamed to Track.Title Sort.
* In album and track browse lists, the filter is now linked to
  the active grouping definition. For example, if you have
  grouped by Artist, and select a filter that only lists
  live albums, only the name of the artists that have released
  live albums are displayed in the grouping list.
* The Title Sort field is automatically updated when you modify
  the album/track title.
* It is now possible to split CDs if you used the 'Merge CDs'
  command by mistake.
* Sample database updated, and renamed to Sample2000.mdb.

4.01.00 - December 7, 1999

* You can now edit lyrics in the CD Player Lyrics window
  (right-click and choose Edit from the popup menu).
* CD Player is automatically closed when you compact/repair a
  database, or exit CATraxx.
* You can now use Ctrl+A to select all text in text boxes.
* BUG FIX: Problem printing JPEG images (run time-error: "the
  handle is invalid").
* BUG FIX: Show Track Info button in CD Player didn't work.
* BUG FIX: Total playing time not always updated when merging
  albums.
* BUG FIX: Speed search feature in Track View window stopped
  working after going into edit mode for a track, then returning
  to the Track View window.
* BUG FIX: First track of an album being edited replaced with
  the first track of another album when double clicking on the
  track to edit in the Tracks window.
