Offline Cache-Explorer
-----------------------
After unzipping the file run the .exe-file, which is a self
extracting Setup-file which will install everything in the right
place(Normal Setup-procedure: you will get asked for the
install-directory....).

Status: Version 1.0
Stable in most functions.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is indispensible to have Internet-Explorer 5 installed,
because nearly all dll's which come with this paket(45mb) are
involved somehow. Havy use of the latest dll's(pathfunctions
etc) and COM-Techniques are responsible for this.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As always: what started as a quick and dirty project ended
in havy work: three months of work what should have been
finished after two weeks (It seems I'm no more able to write
those nice little programs which are good for just one task).
In the beginning I only wanted to get a little insight in the
Internet-Cache, how it is organized and what is stored
therein. As I learned what strange things get stored there
(and what horrible stories are told in the net about the
cache..) my interest was awakened.

I sent some dll's with the Cache-Explorer which were
sometimes reported as missing on some systems, keep them in
the Cache-Explorer's dir so you have no problem if you later
want to get rid of them (normally you should need only
the Exe and cj608lib.dll ).
Registry: one registry-entry is used for saving the
save-location,one for windows-dimensions.

The Output-Window can be maximized, at the cost of
minimizing the cookie-hex-window. Should one of the windows
get totaly lost, first try the three window-buttons in the
taskbar, maybe one is switched of. Second the window may be
minimized to invisibility: try to get the
window-grip at the bottom or side of the window and pull it
to the desired size.

Not a bug but a feature: The explorer-navigation-buttons
back, forward, up get only active after a first click in the
html-window, which is quite natural because you only can go
back when you first followed a link on a page etc.
This means that the focus normaly stays with the
adress-window to the left, thereby enabling an easy browsing
through the adresses with the arrow-up and -down keys.

Not a bug: Some html-Files have extremly strange names,
which cannot be corrected automatiquely. If a html-file
cannot be saved or copied this may be the reason(a better
forbidden-letter parser is in the works).

Not a bug not a feature: sometimes strange characters show
up in the adress-combobox. Harmless. Has no effect on
whatsoever. Will be eliminated in next version.

Bugs: not bug free, but the most horrible should be gone. If
you encounter a strange dialog don't be confused, maybe
a debugging dialog is still in there.Tell me.

Non-functioning menu-item: delete Cache entirely is off at
the moment due to its desastrous nature ( The question:
"really delete?" seems to weak). If you really want to
delete the whole cache you can use Internet-Explorer's
Delete-cache function(So its not me you can put the blame
upon..).

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you like playing around with the date-function of
dos/windows ? E.g. setting the date to a newer/older date to fool
your favourite shareware ? Then you may encounter strange
things happening with the cache in Internet-Explorer. Lost
entries, deleted history, a seemingly deleted cache may be the
consequence. Even a totally empty cache may show up in
Internet-Explorer. Nevertheless Cache-Explorer will show you
the whole cache intact, since it doesn't rely on the
history. You should save in this case all worthwhile files
with Cache-Explorer immediately, because they may get
deleted in a second step. Afterwards delete the whole cache
with deltree for instance and start with a clean new one.It
doesn't make much sense to progress with a corrupted and
inconsistent cache.

Well understood: This is not a problem of Cache-Explorer nor
of Internet-Explorer, but of the one who's playing around
with the date-function(and thereby fooling the history
function of Internet Explorer). It will only show up in the
Offline-Cache-Explorer & Internet-Explorer! By the way: the same
holds true for Windows-Software that claims: "Extend the
lifetime of your (unlicensed) shareware....!"

Offline Cache-Explorer
----------------------

Also: ohne

So

Harmlos.
In nchster Version behoben.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Warnung!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shareware falsche Daten vorgaukeln soll.
Einknften ihren Lebensunterhalt bestreiten.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todo:
1.Better forbidden letter-parser for filenames.

2. New option: Save selection. All files which are found in
the adresslist(due to an extensive search eg) are saved. New
function needed for this purpose: possibility to delete
manually adresses in the adresslist.
