1.0 Dir Prudence Features
--------------------------------------------------------------

Dir Prudence is a Win32 GUI archive verification utility. It
compares the files and directories in one path with the files
and directories in another path. Paths may be specified as
directories or as individual files.

It is primarily intended for confirming the accuracy of
backups. The backups may be on any directory of any volume,
on a local computer or on a network.

Dir Prudence supports command line parameters. This enables
Dir Prudence to be run from a batch file or a Windows shortcut
with predetermined settings. Using an appropriate scheduling
program, Dir Prudence may even be run unattended, and it can
be configured to shut itself down when finished.

Dir Prudence does not modify the Windows Registry, nor does it
place any files in the system directories.

Dir Prudence does not require large amounts of memory.

Dir Prudence supports Windows long file names and UNC paths.

Minimum Requirements:

Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 or later.

16-colour Graphics Display (256-colour or greater preferred)

2.0 Installation and Uninstallation
--------------------------------------------------------------

2.1 Installation:
-----------------

Create a directory on your computer.

Extract all the files in DIRPR140.ZIP to the new directory.

In the new directory run DIRPRU.EXE.

  That's it.

2.2 Uninstallation:
-------------------

Delete the directory in which Dir Prudence was installed.

Note: The default initialisation file is in the Dir Prudence
directory. Users may specify an alternate
initialisation file. If a user has created an
alternate initialisation file in a different location
from the Dir Prudence directory then it is up to the
        user to remove that file.
