Doug's MS-DOS Shell Extension v.1.0.3
*************************************

********************
General Statement #1
********************

This shell extension is freeware and may be re-distributed WITHOUT the consent of the author, me, Douglas J. Balsillie. If you find any "bugs" (not likely) or you have ANY trouble, whatsoever, with the installation process please feel free to inform me via the e-mail address listed directly below. This is the initial and, hopefully, (knock on wood) final commercial release of this Shell Extension (program). ;-) Also, please be aware of the accompanying Disclaimer, near the end of this document, which will allow me to escape civil litigation for any spectacular digital events that may befall you or your organization through the use of this software. :-(

Install/Uninstall Methodology
****************************

************
Installation
************

This extension is ONLY to be used on a machine that is currently running Windows 9x or NT. To install this Shell Extension simply unzip, or copy, if you already haven't, the archive to your Windows Desktop using a common archiving utility such as Nico Mak's Winzip(R). Right click on the extracted file DOSShlEx.inf and choose the INSTALL option on the Context Menu that will appear thereafter. Furthermore, after this process is complete you may move the program, and it's documentation, to the Recycle Bin or archive it for any later installation that may or may not be necessary.

Immediately after you perform this installation you will notice that if you right click on a Drive or a Directory, in My Computer or Windows Explorer, a new entry will be present, on the Context Menu, aptly named "Drop to MS-DOS". Choosing this option will allow the user to quickly bring up a "MS-DOS Box" which will reflect the path of the Drive or Directory, which was initially right clicked.

Uninstallation

If at sometime in the future you decide that you no longer want this Shell Extension present, on your system, you may uninstall it by simply going to the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet. When there scroll down until you find an entry named "Doug's MS-DOS Shell Extension". Choose the aforementioned entry by left clicking on it once. This will then allow you to select the Add/Remove... button present near the bottom right of the applets dialog box. Click this and choose OK, once the Add/Remove... button has been grayed out again. This action will remove the software and ALL registry entries completely from your computer.

General Statement #2
*********************

Enjoy this software that will make your life a little easier by reducing your use of the keyboard when using an MS-DOS Prompt. I'm a lazy individual, by nature, and will use ANYTHING that makes my life even a little easier. ;-) :-)

Stay tuned for additional freeware Shell Extensions that I will write as time and new ideas permit. If you wish you can send me your e-mail address I will gladly inform you as to their release(s). Also, another good reason to send me your e-mail address is that I will soon be producing a site, on the WWW, and I will gladly inform you as to it's URL so that you can go there for updates and additional software. I have also written a package of five DOS Shell Enhancements for Win9x. To locate this archive, using your Web Browser, go to any search engine i.e. http://av.yahoo.com (the best search engine IMHO) and enter the following, "6dosut13.zip" (without the double quotes). This archive is mirrored globally through http://www.simtel.net and should be quite easy to locate via this methodology. You can also use an Archie Client to locate it if you so desire.
