Only for display cards ASUS V3800TNT/TV, V3400TNT/TV & V3000/TV
with digital Video decode components
(Enhanced Video Input Processor SAA7111A - EVIP).

WARNING!
. Don't use VLive with any other display card. Usually it results in complete
  hang-up of the computer.
. Make sure the most current version of DirectX is installed on your computer
  (6.0 or above).
. VLive does not operate in the 32bpp-screen mode with screen size more 800x600
(this limitation of V3400TNT display card).
. If you have V3000 or you use non-Intel MMX compatible CPU please see section
  "Additional configure parameters"
. See section "Troubleshooting" first in case of problems

FEATURES
. Automatic detection/set of an input signal source: Composite or S-Video
. Automatic switching between following standards:
  - PAL BGHI, PAL N, PAL M
  - NTSC M, NTSC N, NTSC 4.43, NTSC-Japan
  - SECAM
. Detailed set-up of EVIP parameters for imaging quality improvement
. Two high-speed video and audio capture modes with an option of compression
. 3D user interface
. and more...

Video/audio compression available in capture modes can reduce the size of the
output AVI-file considerably.

If you drag the VLive window and 'throw' it to one of the sides of the screen,
the program window will 'stick' to the boundary of the screen (some skill is
required).

Video&audio capture

There are two video-capture modes:
. Turbo mode
. Standard mode

Turbo capture

The output AVI-file is formed for one pass (i.e. the audio/video data is written
immediately into the AVI-file in real time). Possible is the simultaneous
capture of a sound. The mode actively uses internal features of display card,
due to what it was possible to achieve startling productivity.
Particular advantage of this mode is that you can get captured frames of
practically any size. The quality of the image is uniformly high (using hardware
scaling with smoothing and anti-alias effects).

Standard capture

The creation of the AVI-file is carried out for one pass. The simultaneous
capture of a sound, application of any video and sound compressors is possible.
The size of a frame is fixed. When video-compression is on the speed of
processing drops dramatically (in RGB24 color mode, UYVY mode is the fastest).

Take note: the capture mode set influences copying of separate frames into
clipboard or into bitmap-files as well.

Capture options

Capture options dialog is accessible trough key combination CTRL+O.

. Capture mode ('Turbo mode', 'Standard mode') - current capture mode
. Capture audio - select to enable audio capture.
. Vertical blanking synchronization - synchronization of the video-capture
  buffer reading.
. Mirror capture frame - only for UYVY color format (some video codecs demand
  it).

. Size of the captured video frames
   - Frame size - width and height of the digitized frame in pixels
   - List - choice of significance from the list
   - Window size - to set width and height equal to a current size of the window.
   - User - direct input of width and height.

. Color mode - capture color format
. Audio compression options - specify settings for Rate (the sample Rate for
digitizing audio), Format (the bit depth of digitized audio), and Type (the
  compression method for digitized audio)
. Video compression options - specifies the codec (compressor/decompressor) and
set options specific to the selected codec.
. Capture FPS limitation - specifies maximum capture speed. The actual speed
  will be on 5-10% less.
. Frames crop - specifies gaps for the removing video artifacts. Gaps calculated
relatively video-overlay size (default 720x288). Frames crop accessibility
  only in turbo capture mode.

. Choices of abort of capture mode condition.
   - Time limit - maximum time in seconds
   - Size Limit - maximum size in megabytes
   - Frames limit - maximum frames
. Expected parameters for the pending compression codeces:
   - FPS - approximate expected capture speed.
   - Frames count - approximate expected capture size. Frames count desired as is
  "Frames limit"
Pending compression codeces use this information for the definition of the
compression and images quality. These values adjust experimentally.

. Capture file options:
   - Auto named - enabled automatically generation of the unique AVI names.
   - Capture file base name - AVI file name. VLive automatically will add next
following number to the name of the file if necessary.
   - Capture path - folder for AVI-files.
   - Capture temporary path - folder used in two-phase capture.
   - Enable log - writes capture result statistics to log-file.

. Additional configure parameters

program (default VLive.ini). Following parameters are defined:

The program can be started with a parameter, which is the name of the
configuration file. It allows starting VLive with various options.

Known issues

For various reasons some audio and video-compressors may not work or the
AVI-file may be malformed.

VLive does not support display cards with a built-in tuner, more precisely it
does not support tuner control.

There might be problems with simultaneous use of VLive and any other program
utilizing DirectX (close VLive and start again).

Switching Windows screen modes when VLive is active might result in errors
(close VLive and start again).

Troubleshooting

Common problems

This section describes how to resolve common problems you may encounter while
using VLive.

Problem:
After start the program 'hangs up' without any error message.

Solution:
Check up the current model of the display card in the configuration file of the
program (Vlive.ini). Set an option value 'Model' in 0 for V3000, in 1 for V3400
and 2 for V3800. If all is correctly set, check the following requirements:
The program is guaranteed to work only under Windows 98
Microsoft DirectX version 6.0 or above have to be installed
The program works only with ASUS V3000/TV, V3400/TV and V3800/TV display cards

Set 16-bit display mode for screen resolution more than 800x600, (you can set
any screen resolution - 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x1024, but display mode should
  be 16bpp)
See problem with different drivers below

Problem (only in V3400):
After start of the program you observe the pink screen. Moving the program
window you hear sounds.

Solution:
Update driver for your display card. The program is designed for version 2.16 or
higher ASUS display driver or nVIDIA Detonator. If you can't or don't want to
update of the driver set parameter value 'BUGFlag' in the program configuration
file (Vlive.ini) to 1. It slows program down noticeably.

Problem:
In a turbo-capture mode (or in other capture modes) the program abnormal
finishes or you receive error messages.

Solution:
Check up the current CPU type in the program configuration file (Vlive.ini). Set
'MMX' parameters value to 1 if yours is Intel MMX-compatible CPU. In any other
case, set this parameter value to 0.
If, despite of it, again there are errors, check up set-up parameters for audio
and video of compression. The program is unable to work with some codecs because
of their specifics.
Note: for a model ASUS V3000 a turbo-capture mode is not accessible.

Problem (only in V3000):
The 3D-interface elements at window resizing do not function.

Solution:
There is no solution. This problem is caused by shortage of a video memory V3000
has. The partial solution consists of full deactivation of the 3D-interface. For
this purpose in the program configuration file (Vlive.ini) set value 'D3RM' to 0
(available only in the registered version). In this case the program have to be
controlled by the keyboard (see readme.txt for details).

Problem:
It is impossible to understand purposes of parameters in the dialogue of set-up
Enhanced Video Input Processor SAA7111A - EVIP.

Solution:
Overwhelming majority of parameters of this dialogue has very specific purpose,
making sense only to an expert. Besides they require having good knowledge in
the processing television signals area. The inclusion of all this information in
VLive Help file is not planned. Try experimenting, it is completely safe for
your display card and might bring some improvements.
If you are interested at the details, you can get full description of SAA7111A
chip on PHILIPS Company website.
