1=WinSafe98 is easy to use for the beginner, and has all the tools for the advanced power user to repair any problem on your computer.
2=The Anti Virus is a DOS based program.  Its main purpose is for checking checksums of all system and dll files. You can run it to see what files have changed since you installed WinSafe98.
3=A compressed drive cannot be accessed from DOS. There may be no way to restore or repair Windows95 if Windows is on a compressed drive.
4=To avoid formatting you should never compress your C drive. However, you may create an empty drive on C. Read the help file in DriveSpace.
5=You should never install Windows to a slave drive because these drives are not always accessible from DOS.
6=Create a Bootlog about once a month, and review it to find problems.
7=The Bootlog can be viewed from DOS if you remove the hidden attribute.
8=If a lot of TTF files fail to load in the Bootlog, this can cause an IOS error, and you may get locked out of Windows.
9=You should delete corrupted TTF files from the Font directory to avoid an IOS error.
10=To create a current Bootlog, when you see the boot notice STARTING WINDOWS 95, press F8 and choose Log Boot.
11=The Registry is nothing more than a large ini file for your programs, in database form.
12=Reinstalling Windows does not always repair the Registry. It generally adds to the size of the Registry.
13=OS means Operating System. IOS means Initializing Operating System.
14=Reinstalling Windows generally will not repair IOS errors. However, editing the Registry will.
15=Before reinstalling Windows, use the FIND command at the START button. Then look for all "*.reg" files, and then double-click on all of them. This will rewrite all entries to the Registry.
16=As a precaution it is wise to reboot before emptying the Recycle Bin. This way you can restore the file, if you deleted a file that Windows needs.
17=If you crash and can't get the Task Bar to respond press the Windows button or Control and Tab of your keyboard to get Taskman. You can then run the Explorer or WinSafe using the Run command.
18=If you are in Windows, and suddenly you get a message that the Registry is corrupted, you should click Restore with Current, on WinSafe, before clicking Windows Restore And Restart.

20=You can save a second backup copy of the Registry, by selecting Save Old Configuration, under the Restore menu item, on WinSafe.

22=If you boot up and enter Windows in Safe Mode, and the Restore the Registry window is not up, you should reboot, and if successful then reboot again and create a new boot log to review.
23=A hardware conflict can cause your computer to lock up. Click the Hardware button on WinSafe, then select View, then Devices with Problems.
24=Before installing new programs, first shut down all visibly running programs. Then use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to shut down programs that are running in the background, but do not shut down Explorer or Systray.
25=If you download and install and then uninstall a program, you can use WinSafe to remove all the new entries in the Registry, by using the backup Registry files to restore the Registry.
26=If you have two or more hard drives, you can enhance performance by assigning the swap file to the drive that does not have the Windows folder. You can do this in the Device Manager.
