=======================================================================================
1. What is The UK Telephone Number Locator/UK Phone Codes?
The software is a application for looking up the STD or long distance phone
number for a place name or vice versa. This version only works with UK phone
codes. The software works with Windows 95/98 and NT 4.0. It should work with
NT 5 (Windows 2000) but at the current time it has not been tested with this
   operating system.
The software is year 2000 compliant.
The software is "AdWare". This means that it is free to use. The advertisers
fund the ongoing development of the software. If you want a version without the
advertisements then you can register the software via a secure web page. The
   registration cost is currently 15.

2. How to Install/Remove the Software
   INSTALLATION/UPGRADING:
   1. If the software came in a ZIP file (e.g. UKPHONE2.ZIP) then use PKUNZIP or similar
to decompress the software. If the file came as an executable (e.g. SETUP.EXE)
then proceed straight to step 2.
   2. Ensure that the Software is not running (Upgrading Only).
   3. Run the program SETUP.EXE from the installation archive or disc. You can do
this from the Program Manager (File/Run or Open menu) or from Explorer.
   REMOVAL:
To Uninstall the Software: Select the Settings and then Control Panel option
from the Start menu. Double click on "Add/Remove Programs". Select "UK Phone Codes 2"
and click on the "Add/Remove" button. The software will then be removed.

   REPORT ERRORS/OMISSIONS IN THE DATABASE
If you find a genuine error or omission then please email me and I will correct the
   database.

   AUTO CHECK FEATURE
If you use dial-up networking (i.e. You have a modem attached to your computer and use
it to connect to the internet) then the Software can automatically check whether
there are new versions of the program and data while your computer is connected to
the internet. If it detects a new version of the program or data it will then ask

5. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Where do you get the numbering information from?
A: The information is compiled from many sources. This is to ensure that
the database is as complete as possible. Some of the numbers are from the Oftel
"Specified Numbering Scheme" at http://www.oftel.gov.uk. This information carries
the following copyright notice "The information is Crown Copyright and is published
as required by the Numbering Conventions."

Q: There is an error/omission in the database. What can I do about it?
A: The information is gathered from many sources so it is impossible to check every
entry. When an error is discovered our master list is updated and, from time
to time, it is uploaded to our servers for you to download.
If you think you have found an error please double check before reporting it. Bear
      in mind the following facts:
      * Some codes are geographic and others are not.
      * Some codes may appear incorrect if a number is moved from one Telephone operator to
        another.
If you are sure that the error/omission is genuine then please email us.

Q: Can I edit the database myself?
A: It would be very difficult to edit the database yourself.
We have decided not to implement an edit feature. As the phone codes apply to the
whole UK we will maintain just one master list. You can inform MediaWeb of
corrections and these will be incorporated into the master list. This way every-
one gets the benefit of any changes.

Q: Is there a version of "The UK Telephone Number Locator" for any other Countries?
A: Not at the moment. If anyone can point me to reliable sources of telephone
number codes for other countries I may consider releasing new variants.

Q: How can I get rid of the Adverts?
A: You can do this by registering the software. Registration is via a secure web
      page and only costs 15.
