  Introduction

IPS for Windows is a scientific image processing program. It works with
8-bit, grayscaled images. IPS has a variety of options which can improve
the image quality or bring out details which are hidden for the eyes.
Astronomers with amateur CCD cameras like ST4 (from "Santa Barbara Instruments
Group"), will find IPS a very useful tool, enhancing images produced by CCD.
IPS reads three types of image formats: ST4 image files, TIFF files and VSA91
image files. ST4 files extensions are: .ST4, .CCD, .SBI and .08B. TIFF files
must be in uncompresed, 8-bit, grayscale format, with .TIF file extension.
VSA format is a raw 8-bit format with a 210 bytes header, used by the image
processing group on the "Visnjan School of Astronomy" (Croatia).
