1. What is Adr_Book?
--------------------

Adr_Book is a database program that prints mailing labels, an address
booklet, envelopes, and several reports. Adr_Book also functions as
  a phone dialer program.

The mailing labels can be printed to meet postal requirements for best
bulk mail rates: zip code order and with all capital letters for the name
  and address.

The envelopes can be printed in three popular sizes. The postnet code
can be printed. Different fonts and point sizes can be specified for the
  return address and addressee.

The address booklet can be printed in multiple dimensions ranging from
  5.5" x 4.25" to 4.0" x 2.75". This is very convenient for producing
booklets of your business contacts, but is also great for organizations,
clubs, and churches. As of version 2.1, the address booklet can also be
  printed in color.

The phone dialing works like most others, but I like to believe it is more
  enjoyable and easier to use.

The design philosophy of Adr_Book was to make it intuitive and fun to use.
I think you will find this to be true. However, don't let this fool you
into believing Adr_Book is a simple and limited product. It has many
features that can be used for more advanced use.

2. What is new since 1.5?
------------------------_

  a. Phone dialing capability has now been added. After configuration,
clicking on the yellow and black phone number will cause the phone
     number to be dialed.

  b. The list box now includes the complete first name rather than just
     the first initial.

  c. The Import/Export feature has been greatly enhanced. You can now
specify if tabs, quotes, etc are used to separate the fields in your
Import and Export files. A point and click interface lets you
describe where each field is located in your file. All of this makes
it very easy to get data from your current database or spreadsheet
     program into Adr_Book.

3. What is new since 2.0?
------------------------_

  a. A complete Find command has been added. It is possible now to search
for strings in all of the database fields.

  b. You can print the address booklet in color. This allows you to make
really attractive and easy to read address books. It is very nice
to have all of the telephone numbers jump out at you because
     they are blue.

  c. Accelerator key capabilities have been added.

  d. Optional fields to assist in generating phone numbers for dialing.

4. INSTALLATION
----------------

To perform the installation insert the floppy in drive A or B and run
  INSTALL.EXE from Windows.

If all of the files are currently on your hard drive you can still
install the program by running the INSTALL.EXE from Windows.

5. FILES ON THE DISK.

INSTALL INF - Windows Install Script file

6. Why Register?
----------------

A couple of features are limited in the unregistered version. The "Find"
command will not work in the unregistered version if you have more
than 50 records in your database. The color printing of the address
booklet will not work if you have more than 20 records in your database.
This should be enough for you to test the feature, but to get complete
functionality you must obtain a registered copy.

You will feel better. (maybe) Actually, I really believe this is true.

You can contact me for any support questions you might have. The best
way is to send Email to the address given below.

  > And most importantly if I can afford to take Alberta out to dinner,
  > she just might not think this was a colossal waste of time.

The above two lines were in the 1.0 release of Adr_Book. It has been a
fairly successful product and I actually have been able to take Alberta
out for a couple of very nice evenings. Thank you for your registrations.

So how do you get version 2.1? Simple:

Send $23.00 plus $2.00 shipping and handling ($5 for international
shipping and handling) along with name and mailing address to:

     Michael Gardner
     1231 Redwood Ct.
     Anchorage AK 99508

You can also order using VISA and Mastercard. Just be sure to include
the card number, the name as written on the card, and the expiration date.
There is a registration form under the on line Help Menu.

From Europe I am sorry to say I can not cash Eurocheques, as bank here
want to charge me $35 for handling.

I make every effort to get each orders shipped as quickly as possible. Oh!
and I would like to hear any comments and suggestions that you might have.

  Thanks

7. Hints
----------------

One feature of Adr_Book not clearly stated anywhere concerns configuration
information associated with a database file. Items such as the COM port to be
used for phone dialing, how labels are to be offset for printing, what fields
should be displayed in the graphical address book, etc. are part of the
configuration stored with each database file.

Almost all items that you set will be stored when you perform a save of your
file. If you make a change to a record in your database, Adr_Book will ask
you when you exit if you want to save this change. This is not true if you
make a configuration change only. Remember, if you make a configuration
item change, and you want it to be a permanent change, SAVE your database
file.
