    Ŀ
THE ROBOCOMM REGISTRATION AGREEMENT DOES NOT ALLOW MULTIPLE
USERS TO USE ROBOCOMM!!! However, for those of you whose
spouse or children are using YOUR registered copy of ROBOCOMM,
Dan Parsons has chosen to permit this without charging
     additional registration fees.

If you would like "separate" ROBOCOMM programs, "separate" BBS lists,
"separate" AGENDAS OR "separate" AVAILABLE/DOWNLOADED FILE LISTS, this
message explains the BEST way to do it!!!

For ALL those ROBOCOMM users that have sought a solution for multiple users
or multiple databases, here is the solution as explained by Dan Parsons via
a recent telephone conversation:

From your main ROBOCOMM directory create "subdirectories" with distinct
names (ie. ROBOHIS, ROBOHERS, ROBOPRVT, ROBO-1, ROBO-2, ROBO-3 or whatever
names you choose).

Now after the desired directories have been made, COPY ONLY THE FOLLOWING
FILES into EACH of the newly created directories:

 *.DBV (all .DBV files)
 *.DBF (all .DBF files)
 ROBOCOMM.MEM
 ROBOFONT.VGA
 COLOURS.DEF
 ROBOUSR.DEF (registration KEY)

Once THESE files have been moved into EACH of the NEW DIRECTORIES, you may
then DELETE each of them from the main ROBOCOMM directory. ALSO, you
should DELETE ALL .NTX and .FTS files as they will be re-created in each of
the new directories. LEAVE ALL OTHER FILES in the main ROBOCOMM directory
so that they remain as "common files" and are available to EACH subsequent
ROBOCOMM program run.

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR ROBOCOMM DIRECTORY HAS BEEN ADDED TO YOUR PATH
STATEMENT WITHIN YOUR AUTOEXEC.BAT!!! (ie. PATH=C:\ROBOCOMM)

NEXT... create batch files to execute ROBOCOMM from WITHIN each of the NEW
SUBdirectories that you have created. It is VERY IMPORTANT to use the FULL
PATHNAME for executing ROBOCOMM (ie. C:\ROBOCOMM\ROBOCOMM.EXE).

Here are SAMPLE batch files that for ROBOHIS and ROBOHERS:

This BATCH file is in the This BATCH file is in the
  C:\ROBOCOMM\ROBOHIS directory. C:\ROBOCOMM\ROBOHERS directory.

  Ŀ Ŀ
   ROBOHIS.BAT ROBOHERS.BAT

   @echo off                          @echo off
   cls cls
   cd c:\robocomm\robohis cd c:\robocomm\robohers
   c:\robocomm\robocomm.exe c:\robocomm\robocomm.exe
   cd c:\robocomm cd c:\robocomm
   cls cls

After running either of these BATCH files for the FIRST time, ROBOCOMM will
ask if there is "ANOTHER COPY of ROBOCOMM CURRENTLY RUNNING IN THIS
DIRECTORY" and you should SELECT "NO"!!! This is because ROBOCOMM needs to
rebuild all the .NTX and .FTS files that it requires.

I have THREE directories running THREE "separate" ROBOCOMM programs this
way and it works great!!!

And thats it!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
