This is an interesting recipe for those of you who like the unusual.
it is an indian side dish/relish called Chutney. this particular chutney
is very good and if you would like you can substitute apples for the
pears. The recipe goes as follows:

FRESH PEAR CHUTNEY

*There are two types of chutney, one is cooked and preserved and the
other, like this, has chopped raw ingredients.

makes about 2 cups.

2 cups finely chopped peeled cored bosc pears(about 3 large)
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh mint
2 tablespoons finely chopped red bell pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped jalepeno chili
2 teaspoons minced peeled fresh ginger
1 garlic clove minced
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons honey

Combine first 6 ingredients in medium bowl. Whisk vinegar and honey in
small bowl to blend. stir into pear mixture. cover and refridgerate at
least 30 min.

I know that this sounds unusual, but it is VERY good. and if you are
into Interesting foods this one won't disapoint you.
