1 lb sweet butter
1 egg yolk
1/4 C confectioner's sugar
1/4 C orange juice
1 oz. brandy or ouzo
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 3/4 C flour, sifted
1/2 C cornstarch
1/4 C ground almonds
whole cloves
1 box confectioner's sugar

Soften butter at room temperature.  Beat butter with mixer or food processor
until white and fluffy.  Continue beating and add sugar, egg yolk, orange
juice, brandy and vanilla.  Next beat in flour and cornstarch.  Remove from
bowl for a few minutes until dough forms a soft ball.  Blend in almonds.

Shape dough into walnut sized balls.  Do not press down or flatten.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet, approximately 1/2" apart.  Place a whole
clove in the center of each ball.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes,
or until golden brown.

While cookies are baking sift 1 cup confectioner's sugar on waxed paper or a
bread board.

Remove cookies from oven.  Using a spatula immediately transfer hot cookies
to sugared board or waxed paper.  Do not crowd cookies or place them on top
of each other.  Coat with sugar.

Cool several hours before serving.  Place in individual cup cake or petit
fours containers.  Sprinkle with more sugar.
