    RECIPE NAME: TOMBSTONE BONES
KEY INGREDIENTS: pork, vinegar, salt
         SOURCE:

Serves 4

4 lb. pork spareribs
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 1/4 tsp. sugar

Preheat campfire to 375 degrees.  Place ribs in roasting pan.  Add 2
cups water, cover tightly with heavy foil and bake 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar in a small bowl.

Remove ribs from oven and drain water.  Raise oven temperature to 500
degrees.  Pour vinegar sauce over ribs, return to oven and bake,
uncovered, 25 minutes more, basting once or twice.

Note:  You can also cook these on the grill after the oven steaming
part.  Just baste with sauce while they're grilling.
