                   ***** UPDATE INFORMATION VERSION 6.0AN *****

The following is a partial list of changes/corrections made since version
5.6 release: (see page #2 of this document for v5.2 corrections/changes)

    1. Updated/Tested VTEC60AN for SCAN/CLEAN 9.23v112 & 113 beta.
Version 6.0AN replaces earlier versions. NOTE: Always use the most
recent version of The Virus Terminus. For current version information
and SCAN/CLEAN compatibility, please call the STC BBS listed above.

    2. MAKE EMERGENCY DISK module updated for VTEC60AN. Please read the file
VT60ADOC.TXT for information on how to make an emergency work disk.

    3. Fixed problems with activity log option.

    4. Removed support for individual SCAN/CLEAN reports. The Virus Terminus
now supports just the accumulative activity log report style.
(SCAN/CLEAN option: /HISTORY) Viewing and printing the log file is
available in both stand-alone and network installation.

    5. Added support for /BELL SCAN/CLEAN option which makes a beep each time
a virus is found. This is optional and may be turned on from the Virus
Terminus configuration table if so desired.

    6. Please note that beginning with version 5.6, The Virus Terminus uses
the external data file method (/AF /CF /RF) of immunization. Users of
earlier versions will need to re-immunize using the new method.

    7. The Virus Terminus v6.0 program package was archived using PKWare's
version 2.04g PKZIP Authentic File Verification.Use of PKWare's version
2.04g PKUNZIP program will reveal file authenticity during extraction.
A "-AV" will be displayed after each file is extracted. In addition,
"Authentic files Verified! # HXJ741 S.T. CALISE" will be displayed
       when the extraction process ends.

NOTE: If your copy of The Virus Terminus archive has an SDN extension,
the above information does not apply. The SDN archive version
is packed using another secure process.

               ***** UPDATE INFORMATION VERSION 6.0AN cont. *****

    Corrections/Additions/Changes to v5.2AN:

    1. MAKE EMERGENCY DISK module corrected to allow different locations
       for scan.exe, clean.exe, validate.com and virlist.txt.

    2. Changed method of immunization. The Virus Terminus now uses the
       scan.exe /AF, /CF, /RF switch options to add, check and/or
       remove validation/recovery information. A file named RECOVLST.VT
       now holds the recovery information.

    3. Revised pathname manual entry and wildcard file selection procedures.

    4. IMMUNIZE/DETECT/RECOVER submenu: "User Confirm" dialog box now appears
prior to scanning which requests user to confirm adding an optional
       /CERTIFY command line parameter.(report files/area not immunized)

    5. Modified the The Virus Terminus SCAN/CLEAN option selection table
which appears in the SCAN/CLEAN LOGICAL DRIVE, SCAN/CLEAN DIR/FILES,
and NETWORK GROUP SERVICE submenus. Submenu #1 now contains a new
       option:  < J > ROOT DIR. + BOOT AREA ONLY: {ON/OFF}

Submenu #2 now contains the following option with reassigned definition:
< J > SELECT FILES: {ON/OFF} User is able to select individual or groups
of files when this option is ON. The user will select an entire
subdirectory when it is OFF. /SUB will not be sent as in v5.2AN

The /M memory option is now available as a separate user option:

           C. CHECK MEMORY: CRITICAL & STEALTH VIRUSES. [ ]
           D. CHECK MEMORY: * ALL * KNOWN VIRUSES ..... [ ]

NOTE: Selection #D sends SCAN/CLEAN the /M option which instructs SCAN/
CLEAN to check for ALL KNOWN viruses which may be found in memory.
Turning option selection #D to ON is not recommended if the user
also runs or makes use of another anti-viral program package which
does not remove, cipher, hide or otherwise encrypt its own virus
search strings in memory. Read the VIRUSCAN documentation for
more information concerning the SCAN/CLEAN /M option.

NOTE: Use The Virus Terminus only in concert with McAfee Associates anti-
         viral products for best results.

    6. Please note that it is recommended that the user should run The
Virus Terminus from a virus free write-protected floppy until the
hard disk has been disinfected. Do not forget to disinfect ALL suspect
floppies or re-infection may occur. Write-protected floppy operation
is also recommended under other circumstances (when checking an unknown
system, etc.) Read the documentation file VT56BDOC.TXT and the
       VIRUSCAN documentation now!
