Many Major BBS sysops are asking for a way to compress the
Quickmail Package (QWK) instead of just storing the files.

Now it's easy to do, all you need is:

1) MR_QWK add-on
2) A network
3) Any Mountain Rose Multi Media product

Installing MR_QWK is easy. Copy all MR_QWK.* files to your BBS
directory. Activate the menutree editor (BBS 2) and make a menu-entry
for MR_QWK. We suggest:

C Compress your Quickmail Package

Activate the LEVEL 4 configuration if The Major BBS and look for MR_QWK.
Now you need the activation code of either Major-CD, Major STAT or Major
ZIP. Enter one of them at the right place. That's all to it.

Now for the user to be able to compress his quickmail package he first
has to tag it. After he tagged his QWK-package, he can select MR_QWK.
This wil move his QWK-package to a different directory where the
workstation program will pick it up and compresses it. The user will be
notified when his package is ready to download again.

The next thing to do is to setup the workstation program. First of all:
BE SURE BOTH PKZIP.EXE AND PKUNZIP.EXE ARE IN THE PATH OF THE
WORKSTATION. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS, FORGET ABOUT MR_QWK!!

Now you can choice one of the three version of the workstation program:

1) LANQWK EXE 48108 03-20-94 3:09p

This is the stand-alone version, if you want to dedicate a workstation
to the process. Start it with "LANQWK <bbsdir>" where <bbsdir> is your
BBS directory 'seen' from the workstation.

2) QWKPOLL EXE 49544 03-20-94 3:42p

This is a replacement for UUPOLL. If you're running MG/I you probably
want to use this one. It uses the same commandline options as UUPOLL. We
only added one option. Here's how to start it.
    "QWKPOLL <mailname> <newsname> <dir>
<force> <bbsdir>"
So change your POLLER.BAT file and replace UUPOLL with QWKPOLL and add
the full path to your BBS directory to the command line.

3) MR_LANRQ EXE 93638 03-20-94 4:17p

This is a special version of the lan program for Major CD. Be sure you
have the previous version of the lan-program running before you use this
one. Start this version with "MR_LANRQ QWK <bbsdir>"
Where "QWK" are just the letters Q,W and K and <bbsdir> is the full
pathname to your BBS directory.

Now if you don't have any of our products but want to use MR_QWK anyway,
there's one little thing you can do: buy one of our products!!

If you have any problems installing this program: ask someone else <G>
Remember: it's free to all Mountain Rose Multi Media customers.

It's our way to say: THANKS FOR SUPPORTING US, GUYS!!
