                RETRIBUTION

PART 8 BY THE CHOIR BOYZ TEAM..........................

Athena was a young warrior. She was small in stature, and the
youngest recruit in the Wastelands. No one ever considered
her to be a real threat, but her appearance was deceiving.
She had developed her skills with relentless training and was
more dangerous that she looked. She could strike quickly and
then disappear, leaving her prey confused or dead. Her only
draw back was her youth. She would often forget her rations
and would ultimately find herself in deadly predicaments that
could have been avoided with preparation. But, time would
remedy that.

Athena had been paying particularly close attention to the
Frontier Log since the attack on her squadron leader,
Scarecrow. She tracked all of the recruits movements, or at
least tried to, and kept abreast of the skirmishes that flared
up occasionally between the recruits. There were no major
confrontations that she could detect. There were rumors
circulating that some of the newer recruits had been looted
while they slept in their camp sites, but that was to be
expected and was generally condoned. But the log surrendered
nothing out of the ordinary. Athena's attention wandered for
a brief moment and her left hand brushed against the amber
switch on the console. She had activated the mechanism that
reset the tape she had been viewing, far beyond the point
where she had started. She would merely reset it. As she was
about to fast forward the tape, she noticed an old entry in
the log. Hawk had been resurrected. The date of the entry
was prior to the attack in the prison, but no one had
mentioned any ill fate that had fallen upon Hawk. Athena was
curious.

And so was Bane. Hawk was Bane's mentor at one time, but the
two had not crossed paths for a long while. Like Hawk, Bane
was also a loner, more or less. He was a member of the
"Unequivocal Nemesis" squadron, but did not seem comfortable
with the responsibilities of a squadron member. He liked the
adventure in the Wastelands, but avoided the tedious tasks of
base maintenance and "gun running". Bane was a survivor, but
he was also shrewd enough to know that survival was easier if
he had a friend or two. He joined Eliminator's squadron.

Reluctantly, Athena allowed Bane access to the log. She did
not trust any member of Eliminator's squadron, and always
looked for an opportunity to impose a little misery in their
lives, especially Bane's. But her eye's grew tired from the
monotonous hours at the console, and relinquished it to Bane.
She also wanted to take a little detour before she headed for
"The Crows Nest". Bane skimmed the log, and then scurried off
to contact Eliminator. Athena headed for the Medical Center.
