                RETRIBUTION

PART 16 BY THE CHOIR BOYZ TEAM...........................

Hawk had programed himself to awaken the same time each day.
He surveyed the camp site and checked his back pack. He did
not feel well at all. The radiation had taken it's toll on
him and he was eager to get to the decontamination chamber in
his base. He considered using some of his medpacks, but
dismissed the idea. He would use them only if absolutely
necessary. He policed the camp site so that if a recruit
happened by there would be no clues that he had camped there.
He was, though, a little disappointed that no one had stumbled
upon him and provided him with a little bit of entertainment.
But tonight was a new night. He had plans.

A split second after he heard the thumper, he experienced a
recruits worst nightmare. The pain was unbearable as Nukem
fed on his most recent prize. Hawk managed to escape, though
near dead. With no other options, he used his entire supply
of medpacks to counter the radiation and loss of health. He
did not dare attempt to enter the Complex. He would never get
beyond the Geiger counter, and would certainly be attacked
from all directions. He had to get back to his base on level
4. Hawk worked his way east past the Complex, then south
towards the down hole to level 2. The various monsters were
in a frenzy and relentless in their attacks. Although
seriously injured, he easily escaped them and avoided further
injury. But the radiation was eating away at him. He was
surely going to die. And as suddenly as Nukem had appeared,
so did the Oracle. Not only was he completely cured, Hawk was
now even stronger. It was a truly miraculous experience, one
which he had experienced many times. But it still amazed him
each time he was blessed by the "Old Man." Hawk was even more
powerful now, and more sinister. Someone would suffer for
this.

Osprey viewed the Frontier Log and saw the attempt on Hawk,
"Slimed by Nukem." He was disappointed that Hawk escaped the
clutches of the monster, but couldn't help but smile and think
that Hawk had been somewhat "rattled" by the attempt. If
nothing else was accomplished, a loud and clear message had
been sent. "There would be no target practice without paying a
price." The war had started.

IT WAS TIME. The squadron leaders, as well as their squadron
members met in the recruit chambers. Non-squadron members
were summoned as well. Eliminator's resurrection was a
success and he recuperated quickly. The destruction of his
base had changed him somewhat. He was now more determined
than ever to see that the plan would be carried out to the
fullest. Osprey, Eliminator, and Scarecrow had drawn up a
plan that seemed near foolproof. They could find no flaws in
the plan, save for an unseen act of God. The other recruits
had seemed to quell their doubts after the news of the attack
on Hawk. Although they did realize that he was even stronger
now, they were more confident in the squadron leaders and felt
more assured that every effort was made to counter their foes
onslaught. They were ready to fight. The plan was set in
motion. Phase one was underway.
