To All BBSers and Sysops, 06-14-96

Due to the increasing demand for internet connectivity, many BBSes
are dying or joining the internet community. As a result of this
trend the BBS Directory has shrunk from over 450 to under 250 boards
in just the span of 2 short years. The "Local BBS" is a dying breed.

So in the next edition of the BBS Directory you will see a new
format that will list the Telnet address of a BBS IF IT IS KNOWN,
so that those people who BBS via the internet can look up BBSes
in our area to which they may telnet. In order to make room for
this new informational item I have had to shorten the BBS Name
field and have done away with the Sysop Name field. Other changes
include a reformat of the modem info codes and the deletion of
the number of ring-down lines as well as dialing prefixes. Here is
an example of what the new BBS format will look like.

If you are a SysOp with a telnetable BBS, and would like to see
your BBS's entry COMPLETE with telnet address all you have to
do is either write me (Fire Escape) on my BBS at 741-0341 or edit
your BBS's Main Logon Screen to state your Telnet Address so I can
see it when I call your BBS to verify it. It's THAT EASY!

I'm sorry if the new format displeases anyone or upsets those who
have written programs or utilities for it based on the old format.
I do not plan to change the format again unless a need for a new
info field arises. If I receive enough negative feedback I might
even consider reverting back to the old format, but I think this
newer format makes more sense for the BBSes of the 21st century.

Thanks for your understanding and your support.
Sincerely,
Fire Escape
