GUS day people!

This is Jurassic Mark writing. Here are a bunch of XMI files I ripped
from Ultima 8: The Pagan. Although the graphics are excellent and the XMI
files sound terrific, Ultima 8 does not support the GUS in any way. I tried
SBOS of MegaEM and nothing works. Other GUS owners gave me the same report.

To listen to the XMI files, just load MegaEM with SoundCanvas emulation
and type:

P [filename.XMI]

Press any key to stop playing.

The musics are pretty wicked and dark. I just imagine playing U8 with
that kind of music coming out of my speakers. We should all write to
Origin Systems. From what I've been told, Advanced Gravis helped them a lot
and sent programmers over there to help them put GUS support in their
titles. But Origin kept coming with poor excuses like "Gravis never came to
us" or "There are too much cards to support", etc... And guess what?
WaveBlaster is supported in U8. If you look at the "Sound" selection, only
SoundBlaster products are mentioned. No PAS, no Adlib Gold, no GUS, no
other soundcard than can do DAC too. My question is: Are they paid by
Creative Music Labs NOT to support the GUS? Are they fixing their code so
it detects the GUS and stops working?

Gosh!! The game just hangs up there. No "Soundcard not found" error
or sign that the game tried to talk to the soundcard and failed. With
other games like NHL Hockey, you can see that it's trying. U8 just loads and
leaves me there with a blank screen. Is it in purpose?

I think Origin has made many enemies. Look at this. This README
file turned out as an editorial. *grin* Well people, I had to say it.
If you're reading this and have a GUS, I think you'll agree with me.
Other companies have listened to us, but Origin is deaf. This one is
going into the NON-WORKING section of the G-List.
