Introduction to TourMiles

Originally conceived to make tour/production managers' jobs easier and faster, the
TourMiles program creates fast and efficient mileage calculations between various
destinations.

TourMiles operates like a spreadsheet: enter a list of cities, and the program searches
through over a hundred thousand mileages to find the right one. Shed cities are
calculated by the distance from the closest mileage chart city (see page 9). Originally
created using the Lotus_ 123_ spreadsheet program and compiled with Baler XE,
TourMiles is now a stand alone program.

After a mileage chart is completed, TourMiles will allow you to export the data to a
spreadsheet program. TourMiles will also allow you to import dates/cities data (either
from a spreadsheet program or a database program) to a spreadsheet program and then
to TourMiles.

The program is very simple to use, and if you follow the simple instructions provided in
this manual, you should have no problems.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Dedicated to Sherry Thrun, whose patience, caring and understanding made the
difference, and to David Hyatt who believed first and got the ball rolling and will be
remembered always as a good friend.

My sincere thanks to Kim Gardner and Chris Lamb for without whose help this project
might not have happened. Thank you, guys for believing.

Special gratitude to Larry & Kristina Smith of K&L Computer Services for their
expertise, labor, advise and support; you developed an idea into a work of art.

Last, but far from least, Carmen Landry, without which there would be no project.
Thanks MOM.

Enter date/city data with care, as TourMiles only saves time in searching
		and calculating, not typing.

Enter city/state names incorrectly or if they are not found in the MCL, TM
will prompt, "City not found in master city list Accept? (Y/N)."

calculate mode. TM will then search and calculate appropriate mileages and drive times
in seconds. While in search, TM will display "Retrieving Mileages" at the top of the city
data column.

NOTE 4: Once TM has completed the search and calculations, the Main Menu (Edit,
Print, Reset, Save, Get, Xport, Quit) will automatically appear at the top of
		chart.

change header for each new mileage chart if so desired.

ENTER H, TM will prompt "Enter Header" Allowing you to create a title header
at the top of the mileage chart.
Example: Madonna - 1990 North American Tour.

		To center name above chart.

ENTER | (pipe) character, before name of Header, then press Return.

To left justify name above chart.

ENTER name of header alone,

delete all entries and start with first new date.

ENTER R, TM will automatically remove all entries from chart and prompt
"Enter date (MMDDYY)". TM then re-starts data entry from first
		tour date (see page 4).

NOTE 8: Do not re-name or delete the file "TOURLIST.WKB" as it must be in the

		Example: Copy Tourlist.WKB Citylist.WKB. Re-name copy only,
		DO NOT RE-NAME ORIGINAL FILE.

GET "Get save worksheet", command allows you to retrieve a saved
mileage chart or other spreadsheet files.

ENTER Get command from main menu, TM will prompt "Enter file name to
		Get".
ENTER location of file/name of file (TOURLIST.WKB, TMIMPORT.WKB. (Do not try
to Get "TMWORKS," this file will not operate with Get command).

ENTER location of TMEXPORT.WKB, press Return

Set column widths of new worksheet as follows:
ENTER /, then W for worksheet, C for column, S for set-width, select width
and select next column and repeat for each column as shown here:
		A-3, B-2, C-9, D-2, E-26, F-2, G-6, H-2, I-5, J-2, K-6, L-2, M-5, N-2.

Set decimal range in column K of worksheet, place cursor in column/cell K-7

ENTER /, then Range, the Format, then Fixed
SELECT zero (0) and press Return.
SELECT cell range (K-7 to K-81), press Return

SELECT cell range (C6 to ? up to C80), press Return.
SAVE File, as TMEXPORT.WK1. NEVER SAVE AS TMEXPORT.WKB

Once you have created a TMEXPORT.WK1 file and later would like to transfer data from a
TMEXPORT.WKB file to a TMEXPORT.WK1 file and avoid having to repeat column, date and
decimal set-up, do the following.

Retrieve TMEXPORT.WK1 and with the cursor in column/cell A-1.

ENTER /, then File, then Combine, then Copy, then Entire file.
SELECT TMEXPORT.WKB file, press Return.
SAVE File, as TMEXPORT.WK1 (do not save as .WKB)

LOTUS to TMWORKS

TM allows you to import data out of other spreadsheet programs and into TMWORKS. To
transfer a TMIMPORT.WK1 file from Lotus to a TMWORKS mileage chart, do the
following:

In Lotus select either TMIMPORT or TMCITY (depending on whether you are creating a
new date/city list (TMIMPORT.WKB) or importing date/city data from a database
(TMCITY.WKB).

Date" in each date cell next to all cities entered in TMCITY.WKB (see note 5, page 5, same
as edit mode). After you have entered desired data in TMCITY.WKB and now want to
transfer the data to TMIMPORT.WKB do the following.

Retrieve TMIMPORT.WKB and with the cursor in column/cell A-1.

ENTER /, then File, then Combine, then Copy, then Entire file.
SELECT TMCITY.WK1 file, press Return.
SAVE File, as TMIMPORT.WK1. (do not save as .WKB)
QUIT Lotus, then activate TourMiles (see below).

Enter data into worksheet (TMIMPORT.WKB), with the first date entry in column/cell C-
6 and the first city entry in column/cell E-6 only, you must either enter a date with an
apostrophe ('04/01/91) or the term "No Date" in each date cell next to all cities entered
