This file supersedes TVBRDOCT.TXT and all other versions from 1991 and
earlier. There were no updates in November or December. The next release
will be called TVBRDMAR and should be ready in early March 1992. Although
not every system is checked every month, users should download or view the
latest list each month to keep track of changes. If this list is more than
six weeks old when you see it, please contact your sysop to get the latest
version. For corrections or additions, please contact Mark Leff at Rock &
Roll - Atlanta BBS.

Changes are posted here for only one month, though individual listings are
updated periodically. Please check the detailed list for any systems you call
infrequently.

These lists do not include any general-interest mainframe commercial
systems that charge per-hour access fees for time online. Electronic
distribution is restricted to professionally-oriented PC-based systems in
an effort to reduce nuisance calls to the systems listed, many of which are
not for general public use.

Boards described as $PAY$ DO charge monthly or yearly fees for general
access, and two DO charge based on time used. Most pay boards allow
first-timers a short time to look around, and in some cases will allow
non-subscribers continuing (although limited) access.

Unless otherwise noted, all systems use standard BBS communications
parameters of 8 bits, no parity, and one stop bit (abbreviated in most
communications programs as 8-N-1).

Below are three short lists, and one comprehensive one. Each is sorted by
area code and number. Some systems may appear more than once.

1. All systems operated by TV and radio stations, newspapers, and
broadcasting/entertainment industry professionals. Not all are oriented
exclusively toward the professional communities.

2. Systems or message areas specifically for the broadcast production and
engineering/technical communities. This is a subset of list 1.

3. Systems which, in the author's judgment, can be of value to journalists
as information resources. Some are highly specialized; others are
electronic versions of newspapers. Broadcast industry databases are NOT
listed here, but can be found on the first list.

The long list has detailed information on every system. Use the short
lists as quick reference - then get details below.

Please do not call any board where "SEE NOTES" appears on the short list
description without first looking it up on the long list. Such boards
generally either require pre-validation by voice or are NOT up 24 hours.

Thanks to David Kidder of Take 3 Inc. in Phoenix for the copyrighted
software used to maintain these lists, and to the many BBS listkeepers
around the country whose work goes into this document.

BBS Type: RBBS - Speed: 3/12/2400 - PC-Pursuit Code: DCWAS

Labor Department posts its press releases on this BBS - usually within an
hour or so of the paper handout. Journalists will NOT beat the paper handout
by calling the board, but releases once issued are available electronically
for 30 days or so.
Of particular value for planning is a daily bulletin posted at 4:30pm
listing the NEXT DAY's planned releases. There's also a schedule of
future releases.
Some of the information may not always be picked up by national news media,
and can be a good source for local/regional stories.

Potential users must pre-register with a VOICE call to John Berry at
(202) 523-7343. Give him a name and a password, and he'll give you the
