    MODEM COMPATIBILITY IN GENERAL

Intel modems and faxmodems are compatible with virtually all 300, 1200,
and 2400bps modems. Be aware that there are proprietary high speed
standards that Intel does not support ("PEP" Protocol used with
Telebits, HST Used by US Robotics Modems).

    HAYES ULTRA

This modem has been tested with all Intel modems and is compatible.
The Hayes Ultra is a V.32 compatible modem that incorporates V.42bis
and MNP levels 1-5. All of our modems will talk to the Ultra at 300,
1200, and 2400bps. Intel High Speed modems can talk to the Ultra at
4800 and 9600bps when V.32 mode on the Ultra is enabled. Keep in mind
the Ultra also has the Hayes Proprietary "ping-pong" 9600bps mode that
is NOT V.32. When the Ultra has V.32 mode disabled, only other Hayes
modems can talk to it at 4800 and 9600bps.

        SatisFAXtion/100:
Intel's lab tested this modem with the SatisFAXtion/100 board, and it
        is compatible.

    HAYES SMARTMODEM V SERIES 9600

This modem has been tested with all Intel modems and is compatible.
All Intel modems can talk to this modem at 300, 1200, and 2400bps. Some
versions of the Smartmodem 9600 have MNP and V.42 capabilities. At
        4800bps and higher, Hayes uses a proprietary "ping-pong" 4800/9600bps
protocol that only other Hayes modems can connect to. Intel High Speed
Modems cannot talk to the Hayes Smartmodem V 9600 at any speed higher
        than 2400bps.

    HAYES SMARTMODEM 2400 V SERIES

This modem has been tested with all Intel modems and is compatible.
All Intel modems can talk to the Smartmodem 2400 at 300, 1200, and
2400bps. Some versions of the 2400 V series support V.42bis. All
        versions support MNP.

        SatisFAXtion/100:
Intel's lab tested this modem with the SatisFAXtion/100 board, and it
        is compatible.

    MULTITECH MULTIMODEM V.32

The Multitech MultiModem has been tested at 300, 1200, and 2400bps with
all other non-V.32 modems and was found to be compatible. Intel High
Speed Modems can communicate with this modem at 4800bps and 9600bps.
Some versions of this modem support V.42bis and/or MNP Level 4&5.

    MULTITECH MULTIMODEM 224

This modem was tested with all Intel modems and found to be fully
compatible at 300, 1200 and 2400bps. No error correction or data
compression is offered in this unit.

    MULTITECH MULTIMODEM 224E

This modem was tested with all Intel modems and found to be fully
compatible at 300, 1200 and 2400bps. The 224E is similar to the 224,
        but offers MNP Levels 4&5.

    RACAL-VADIC 9632VP

        14.4EX, SatisFAXtion/400 & 400E:
The Intel SatisFAXtion/400 & 400E and the 14.4EX will not connect with
older versions of this modem when the Intel modem originates the call.
If the 9632VP originates the call, the modems connect. As of this
writing, the current version of the 9632VP does not have this problem.

        9600EX:
The 9600EX works with all versions of this modem.

    US ROBOTICS HST

The US Robotics HST modem has been tested with all Intel modems and is
compatible. The US Robotics HST modem can connect to any Intel modem
at 300, 1200, and 2400bps. At 4800bps and higher, it uses the
proprietary HST (High Speed Technology) protocol that is supported only
by other US Robotics modems. It will not connect to any modems at this
high speed except for other US Robotics modems.

        SatisFAXtion/100:
Intel's lab tested this modem with the SatisFAXtion/100 board, and it
        is compatible.

    US ROBOTICS HST DUAL STANDARD

This modem has been tested with all Intel modems and found to be
compatible. The US Robotics dual standard can talk to all Intel modems
at 300, 1200, and 2400bps. Be aware that there are two modes of 9600bps
operation for this modem: HST and V.32. When the US Robotics is in HST
mode, Intel High Speed Modems can only talk to it at 300, 1200, and
2400 because the HST mode is proprietary to just US Robotics modems.
When in V.32 mode, Intel High Speed Modems can talk to it at 4800 and
        9600bps.

    US ROBOTICS COURIER V.32

The US Robotics Courier V.32 has been tested at Intel and is compatible
with all Intel modems. This modem is the functional equivalent to the
        9600EX and will connect at 300, 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600bps. Some
versions of this modem support MNP Levels 4&5 and V.42bis.

    US ROBOTICS SPORTSTER

Intel has tested this modem and has found it to be compatible with all
of our modems. It will support speeds of 300, 1200, 2400, 4800 and
9600bps but does not support error correction or data compression.

    TELEBIT T-1000

The Telebit T-1000 has been tested by Intel with all modems and is
compatible at 300, 1200 and 2400bps. At 4800bps and higher, Telebit
uses a proprietary "PEP" protocol which is ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER
TELEBIT MODEMS - THE T-1000 IS NOT V.32 COMPATIBLE. Some versions of
this modem have MNP Levels 4&5 and/or V.42bis.

    TELEBIT T-1500/T-1600

The Telebit T-1500 and T-1600 have been tested at Intel and are
        compatible with Intel modems at 300, 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600bps. They
are the functional equivalent to the 9600EX. Some versions of these
        modems support V.42bis and/or MNP Levels 4&5.

    TELEBIT T-2500

The Telebit T-2500 has been tested with all Intel modems and was found
to be compatible with all modems. When in V.32 mode, the T-2500 can
connect to Intel High Speed Modemss at 4800 and 9600bps. Keep in mind
that this modem has the ability to use Telebit's proprietary "PEP"
protocol in addition to or instead of V.32. When in "PEP" mode, all
Intel modems can talk to the T-2500 at 300, 1200 and 2400bps.

Intel High Speed Modems can also connect with this modem using V.42bis
data compression/error correction with Telebit ROM Version 7.02 or
        higher.

    TELEBIT TRAILBLAZER PLUS

The Telebit Trailblazer Plus is compatible with all Intel modems at
        300, 1200 and 2400bps. At 4800bps and higher it uses Telebit's
proprietary "PEP" mode that only other Telebits can use. Some versions
        have V.42bis and/or MNP Levels 4&5.
