        SYMPTOM:  Trouble wiring a terminal

  ISSUE/PROBLEM:  

The cable needed to connect a dumb terminal or a PC terminal to
the host machine is an RS-232 Null Modem cable.  The possible pin
configurations are as follows:

        25-to-25 pin cable

HOST MACHINE        PC/TERMINAL

Transmit -  2            3  - Receive
Receive  -  3            2  - Transmit
DSR      -  6            20 - DTR
Ground   -  7            7 -  Ground
DTR      - 20            6 -  DSR

        9-to-25 pin cable
