Chasing a little white ball. Thats what almost all non-golfers call it. I
have always wondered where this animosity came from.

Why is it that, just because somebody decides not to involve themselves in
an activity, it has to be stupid! I never could figure this one out. In
all fairness I am the same way. I, for instance, could never understand why
someone would get any enjoyment out of hunting animals. If you are in need of
FOOD!, it makes perfect sense. But, just to kill? Well maybe that's a bad
example. Cause that really is stupid.

But what about computers? How could someone sit alone in a room and entertain
themselves with a cathode-ray tube and a bunch of buttons. There's NO inter-
action of any kind. No response other than the ones you input. So what could
possibly be the fascination.

Well this is the exact attitude that I am bewildered by. Why in the world
would you be so dead set against something that you know nothing about. The
only thing that this accomplishes is for you to never even investagate it far
enough to find out that you might like it.

Golf strangely enough, tends to be a direct mirror of life. If you are an
impatient person it will show up on the course. If you are a methodical person
it will show on the course. Some of the things that happen to you are not your
fault, (Rub of the green its called) you still have to deal with it. And the
way you handle it can and does determine the amount of success that you have.
Sound familiar?

These are the things that make the game attrative to most people. Its not
really the score as much as the adventure. It is a completely unpredictable
game. The variables are endless. Your experience is influenced heavily by, who
you play with, where you play, the weather conditions, your mood that day, the
condition of the course. So you see the variations are endless. This is the
part of the game that can become so addictive.
