First off, 3DWORLD is shareware - it's not free. If you like it, I'd
sincerely appreciate a donation of $12.

     As a thank-you, I'll send you a 3.5" disk (5.25" by special request)
     with:
   Ŀ

    1) 3DWORLD in a viewing area almost TWICE the size (stretching from
top to bottom and all the way to the left edge of the screen).
       A dramatic difference!

    2) Ten more 3DWORLD locations to explore.

    3) My puzzle program, Chas' Puzzles. 25 colorful guess-the-phrase
       brain crunchers.

    4) And, best for last, the latest version of the virtual tour of my
       home, 3DHOUSE (v4):

3DHOUSE4 has far more improvements than any earlier update: dozens
of new objects, structural additions, trees, plants, cats, a secret
room, sounds - even animations (e.g., a TV that shatters, a compu-
ter that fades away, a gun that shoots a bullet!). Also, it's got
a larger viewing area this time around - almost the entire screen.

Earlier incarnations of 3DHOUSE have been featured on CD-ROMs by
Nautilus, Screen Artists and WizardWare; in books published by the
Waite Group and Sams Publishing and in many American and European
magazine disk offerings. The Berkeley Hall of Science uses version
3 as learning tool for its thousands of visitors each year.
ACCOLADE, the American distributor of the programming system, chose
3DHOUSE as the product's sole demo.

I've never asked for nor received a cent for the program. Previous
versions have all been free. But with Samantha now two and a boy
coming along in February (!), well, you know... So, 3DHOUSE4 will
only be available in this way.

I'd love to send it to you!

Ok, to start, just type 3DWORLD.

     Keyboard controls:

          Q - Rotate left H - Move left
          W - Rotate right J - Move right

          P - Look upward R - Rise
          L - Look downward F - Descend

          O - Move forward U - U turn
          K - Move backward I - Center view vertically

C - Gets rid of unsightly crosshairs

The keyboard is always active, even if you've selected MOUSE (that's
     "souris" in French!)

                       Ŀ
                        Shift/Escape quits to DOS

I set 3DWORLD to startup in 'fly' mode. Pressing 'V' then 'B' allows
you to enter 'walk' mode. You may have to try this a few times to get
     the hang of it.

Pointing at the ground (generally) and firing, transports you to the
     next location.

When using the mouse, pressing the right button usually does the same
thing as the the left - only faster.

If you have a SoundBlaster or Adlib compatible sound card you'll hear
     sounds as you do things.

NOTE: Applications created with Virtual Reality Studio don't run
correctly from any disk other than c: (the borders don't load and the
color palette is way off). If your hard drive IS c:, you're all set.
If not, you can use the ASSIGN command to fool the program into
thinking your drive IS c:. MS-DOS 6 users can use the SUBST command.

I wrote 3DWORLD with DoMark's "Virtual Reality Studio," version 2.07,
using Incentive's Freescape programming language. It's definitely
worth getting if you're into this sort of thing - but be prepared to
spend some serious time if your project is at all ambitious. You can
order it directly from ACCOLADE at (800) 245-7744. You might check
software ads in computer magazines for a discounted price. I've also
seen it at most national computer stores.

3DWORLD is a compilation of clip art from Virtual Reality Studio 2.0
with many of my own additions and enhancements. It took over a hundred
hours to complete. I got blisters on my elbow!
