CHANGING CEDIT MESSAGE BASE SETTINGS
------------------------------------

In CEDIT, on the MESSAGE BOARD OPTIONS screen, at the bottom of the screen,
you will see settings for:

        - Maximum Message Capacity
        - Maximum Online Message Size

The maximum message capacity setting governs how many messages TBBS will allow
in your message base. You can INCREASE this number without incident simply by
changing the value. However, you cannot DECREASE this number without taking
into consideration how many messages there are currently in your message base.

For example, if your current maximum capacity is 20,000 messages, and your
message base contains 15,000 messages total, then you CANNOT change the
setting to 10,000 without first reducing the size of your message base. To
reduce the size of the message base so you can make this type of change, you
must manually delete enough messages to take the message base under the new
limit, or run MFSQZ using its rolloff features to reduce the size. In either
case, make sure you squeeze the message base using MFSQZ afterward to
physically removed the deleted or rolled off messages. YOU MUST DO THIS PRIOR
TO CHANGING THE SETTING IN CEDIT.

The maximum online message size can be changed at will at any time. This
setting governs only the size of the message editor buffer in TBBS itself,
thereby controlling the size of messages typed in by users. It does not
affect existing messages in any way (as stored message size is separate from
the size of messages entered by users).
