USING THE STARGATE PLUS 8 MULTI-PORT SERIAL CARD WITH TBBS
----------------------------------------------------------

The Stargate Multi-Port Card can be used with TBBS to support up to 16 lines.
The limitation of 16 lines is absolute due to the interrupt sharing
architecture of the Stargate board. For all Stargate boards installed for use
with TBBS, remove jumper JP1.

The first Stargate should be installed as configured out of the box, with
Interrupt Level IRQ4 set to on, Interrupt Control set to normal mode, and I/O
Address Map set to primary. Set the DIP switch block as follows:

     1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Off Off On Off Off Off On On

In CEDIT, in the MULTI-PORT HARDWARE OPTIONS, move the cursor to the section
for interrupt number IRQ4. Set Interrupt Handler Method to "Efficient". Set
MultiPort Board Type to "BitMap(+) LSB=1". Set # of Lines on Board to "8",
regardless of the actual number of lines you will support. Set the Status
Port Address to "7F8".

When configuring lines via the CEDIT PORT/MODEM OPTIONS screens, use a base
address for the respective port as shown under "Primary" in the chart titled
"I/O Address Map" in the Stargate manual. IRQ=4 should be set for all ports.

The second Stargate (if used) should be configured with Interrupt Level IRQ3
set to on, Interrupt Control set to normal mode, and I/O Address Map set to
secondary. Set the DIP switch block as follows:

     1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Off On Off Off Off Off On Off

In CEDIT, in the MULTI-PORT HARDWARE OPTIONS, move the cursor to the section
for interrupt number IRQ3. Set Interrupt Handler Method to "Efficient". Set
MultiPort Board Type to "BitMap(+) LSB=1". Set # of Line on Board to "8".
Set the Status Port Address to "580".

When configuring lines via the CEDIT PORT/MODEM OPTIONS screens, use a base
address for the respective port as shown under "Secondary" in the chart titled
"I/O Address Map" in the Stargate manual. IRQ=3 should be set for all ports.

It should be noted that the Stargate cards require more CPU time per interrupt
than DigiBoards, thus you should not expect good performance with more than
two or three 9600 (or higher) speed lines.
