USING THE TELEBIT T2500 OR T1000 MODEM
--------------------------------------

THIS INFORMATION APPLIES ONLY TO TBBS VERSION 2.1

The Telebit T2500 is a dual personality, high speed modem. It supports the
international CCITT V.32 standard for full duplex 9600 bps transmis-sion, as
well as Telebit's own proprietary Packetized Ensemble Protocol (PEP) high
speed modulation standard. In addition, the modem is capable of downshifting
to lower data rates. The T2500 also supports MNP and V.42/V42bis error
correction and data compression for enhanced through-put. This setup allows
full functionality of all modes.

                    CEDIT Port/Modem Options Settings

In CEDIT use the following settings:

MODEM:
   Type = 5
   INIT = ATE0Q2M0V0X11S0=1S2=255

PORT:
   I/F = LOCK 19200
   RTS/CTS = Y
   The other 4 settings = N

                        MODEMSET Pre-Conditioning

From the DOS prompt, load the MODEMSET program, select the line to which
the Telebit T2500 modem is connected, and enter the following modem com-
mands:

     AT ~&F S52=1S92=1S51=254S66=1S95=2S58=2S131=1S106=1S97=1&W

NOTE: THIS STEP IS ESSENTIAL! The modem will NOT operate properly with
TBBS if you do not pre-condition it exactly as indicated!

                                  Notes

1. This setup locks the DTE rate at 19,200 bps to achieve maximum
     performance of the modem at all speeds. As a result, 1,200 and
     2,400 bps callers may experience "elasticity." This means that
     TBBS may not be as responsive as it usually is, with a minor
     perceived delay in handling menu commands.

2. Our testing indicates that these settings produce reliable opera-
     tion in all modes at all baud rates with TBBS 2.1S, 2.1M[16] or
     2.1M[32].
