USING THE EVEREX 24E+ (MNP) MODEM
---------------------------------

THIS INFORMATION APPLIES ONLY TO TBBS VERSION 2.1

The Everex 24E+ is a 2400 bps modem with MNP error correction and data
compression capabilities. In our testing, however, the modem appears to have
difficulty making successful connections at 300 bps.

To install the Everex 24E+ for full operation with TBBS Version 2.1, use the
following installation procedure:

                    CEDIT Port/Modem Options Settings

In CEDIT use the following settings:

MODEM:
   Type = 2
   INIT = ATE0Q0X1V0M0 S0=1 S2=255 S7=35

PORT:
   I/F = LOCK 9600
   RTS/CTS = Y
   The other 4 settings = N

                        MODEMSET Pre-Conditioning

Use the MODEMSET program to "pre-condition" the modem as follows:

     AT&F&C1&D2&I1&E1&S1&T5\V0\J0\N3\X1\Q3\C2%A13&W0

NOTE: THIS STEP IS ESSENTIAL! The modem will NOT operate properly with
TBBS if you do not pre-condition it exactly as indicated!

                                  Notes

1. This setup allows full operation of the modem in all modes possi-
     ble.

2. Our testing indicates that these settings produce reliable opera-
     tion in all modes at all baud rates with TBBS 2.1S, 2.1M[16] or
     2.1M[32], except for 300 bps, which appears to have some dif-
     ficultly in the tested unit.
