INSTALLING THREE 16-PORT DIGIBOARDS
-----------------------------------

STEP 1

Make certain that you have already properly installed the first two
DigiBoards, and verify that they are operating normally before proceeding.
Refer to the TBBS manual for details.

STEP 2

Referring to the 16-port DigiBoard illustration in the manual, ensure that the
PAL chips installed on your DigiBoard is numbered as follows:

PAL Chips Number Printed on Chip
        PAL Chip 1 (U58) 40000705
        PAL Chip 2 (U46) 40000706

If the PAL chips are not numbered shown above, you cannot continue with the
installation unless your board is equipped with the proper PAL chips.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST PURCHASE YOUR 16-PORT DIGIBOARDS FROM ESOFT IN ORDER TO
HAVE THE PROPER PAL CHIPS. DIGIBOARD OR DIGIBOARD RESELLERS OTHER THAN ESOFT
CANNOT PROVIDE THESE PAL CHIPS TO YOU.

STEP 3

Make certain that IRQ4 is not already in use by other hardware. (IRQ4 is
normally used by COM1; if you have a COM1 port in the machine, it must be
removed or disabled before proceeding.)

STEP 4

Set your jumpers to match the following:

        J3 Jumpered
        J1, J2, J4, J5, J6 NOT Jumpered

        J7 Down (Pins 2 and 3)

        P3 Jumpered

STEP 5

Carefully install the board in any vacant slot in your machine (the board may
be installed in 8-bit, 16-bit or EISA 32-bit slots).

STEP 6

Use CEDIT on the MULTI-PORT HARDWARE OPTIONS screen to set the following:

IRQ Method Board Type Lines Status Port
        3 Efficient PC/AT Digi All 140
        4 Efficient PC/AT Digi All 143

STEP 7

Use CEDIT to define one or more ports as follows:

        Line Base Address IRQ
        33 1A0 4
        34 1A8 4
        35 1B0 4
        36 1B8 4
        37 1C0 4
        38 1C8 4
        39 1D0 4
        40 1D8 4
        41 1E0 4
        42 1E8 4
        43 280 4
        44 288 4
        45 290 4
        46 298 4
        47 2A0 4
        48 2A8 4

You do not have to define all of the ports at this time -- define only those
you need now.
