CAN I USE COM3 AND COM4?
------------------------

We are often asked whether a TBBS system can use COM1, COM2, COM3 and COM4 to
create a 4-line system. Unfortunately, the answer is no.

With traditional serial ports (i.e., non-DigiBoard serial ports) each port
requires a unique interrupt request line (IRQ) assignment. TBBS, however,
supports only IRQ3 and IRQ4, the only two interrupts set aside in the original
IBM PC design for serial communications. This means that using traditional
com ports, you are limited to two lines.

When you need to run three or more lines, you must currently use a DigiBoard
multi-port serial card, available directly from eSoft and from other sources.
(TBBS supports only PC/x and MC/x non-intelligent models of the DigiBoard.)
