FILE OPEN RELATED FAILURES AND ERRORS
-------------------------------------

If you are receiving:

        - General failure errors in TBBS
        - Unexplained unknown ecode errors in TDBS
        - Unusual problems related to file handling
        - File corruption

And:

        - You have installed the DOS program SHARE (usually associated
with local area networks -- LANs)
        - You have a busy TBBS and/or TDBS system

Then SHARE may be configured improperly and have inadequate memory available
to store file related information.

The /F: command line parameter for SHARE controls how much memory is allocated
for SHARE to track open files. On busy TBBS systems, especially when TDBS is
used, so much file activity can take place that the default memory allocation
for SHARE is not adequate anymore, and you must use the /F: parameter to
increase the amount of memory available to SHARE to store its information.

The default is 2,048 for SHARE. If you double the number and indicate it on
the SHARE command line using the /F: parameter, the problems should go away.
For example:

        SHARE /F:4096

Consult your DOS manual or technical reference guide for further information
about SHARE, how it's configured, and what it does.
