UNKNOWN ECODE ERRORS (ERROR 6)
------------------------------

If you are having TDBS run-time errors that report "unknown ecode," and the
error number is 6, you do not have adequate FILES= set in your CONFIG.SYS
file.

An unknown ecode message with error 6 will look somewhat like this:

        [(main)-15] [6] Unknown ecode
             ^ ^ ^
             | | |
             | | +---- Text of message
             | +------------ Error number code (ecode)
+--------------------- Procedure and code line number

An error number 6 means "too many files open," and indicates that the FILES=
setting in your DOS CONFIG.SYS file is too low. When too many files are open,
TDBS cannot open its error message file (TDBSEMSG.TXT) either, as it normally
would be able to -- hence the "unknown ecode" message.

Please note that "unknown ecode" can also mean that TDBS is not completely
installed. If the error number code is ANYTHING OTHER THAN 6, it means that
it's not completely installed -- you need to copy the TDBSEMSG.TXT file from
the TDBS master disk into the main TBBS directory on your hard disk.
