TIMS AND SEADOG HARD WIRED CONNECTION
-------------------------------------

If you wish to hard wire a SEAdog sending system to a TIMS line, you must make
an altered null modem adapter for this purpose. This Technical Note presumes
that you are beginning with a null modem adapter as described in the TBBS
manual CEDIT chapter under Hard Wired. This is the way that a null modem
adapter purchased from eSoft is wired as well.

To convert this null modem adapter to one for use with either a terminal
program or SEAdog make the following modifications:

1. Mark one end of the null modem adapter (or cable) as SEAdog.

2. On this end, remove the wire connected to pin 8. Tape it up so that
it cannot short out. Note: DO NOT REMOVE the connection to pin 6.
The original wire from pin 20 on the other end should remain connected
to pin 6 of the SEAdog end.

3. Connect a jumper from the now open pin 8 to pin 20 on the SEAdog
end of the adapter (or cable).

This completes the modification. The cable now may only be plugged in one way
and operate correctly. The end marked SEAdog must be connected to the SEAdog
computer, and the other end connected to the TBBS port.

NOTE: Use of a terminal program on the SEAdog computer should continue to
operate as it always did.
