-----------------
Short Description
-----------------

The ID LOGIC (R) Simulator for Windows ("Software") simulates
ID LOGIC receivers which permit scanning for stations by type
of music ("Format-Scanning") and which offer automatic
identification of station by name, location and format.

ID LOGIC receivers can perform these functions for all
stations in BOTH AM and FM (unlike RDS which is limited
to FM.)

Such receivers are being introduced to the North American
market by our licensees (see below) - mostly in car radios.

ID LOGIC receivers contain an in-receiver database which
can be updated by the broadcasters themselves (ID LOGIC "RDS")
and/or by the user (ID LOGIC) with a few keystokes.

This Simulator contains the data describing most North American
stations (more than 14,000 stations).

All raw stations data is exclusively licensed from M Street Corp.

--------------------
Minimum Requirements
--------------------

The ID LOGIC Simulators for MS Windows require the following:

    - IBM PC compatible machine;
    - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
    - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
    - Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors (64k preferred);
    - VBRUN300.DLL in the /Windows/System subdirectory.
      NOTE: If you do not already have VBRUN300.DLL, you can
      download it with FTP from hk.net (look for VBRUN300.ZIP
      in the /shareware/prs directory.) Do this BEFORE running SETUP.EXE

------------------
Very Brief History
------------------

ID LOGIC is a scanning/tuning system which permits the user to

  1) automatically identify any tuned-in station
  2) scan for a station by station attribute such as format
    (e.i. type of music), callsign, language, etc.

PRS started to develop ID LOGIC in 1986. The first product was the
ID LOGIC Module for AM/FM radio receivers for use in North America
(which is today - 8/1994 - on the N.Am market in several radios).

We have already licensed SONY, MATSUSHITA (Panasonic/Technics),
PIONEER, KENWOOD, ALPINE, SANYO, CLARION, JVC, and others.
You should see a whole bunch of ID LOGIC models hit the market in '95.

In 1993, ID LOGIC "RDS" was integrated in the Radio Broadcast Data System
(RBDS) standard issued by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC)
on January 8, 1993. (This is the U.S. version of the European
RDS standard.)

Since 1992 we have been working with the BBC World Service and the Voice
of America to develop an ID LOGIC version for shortwave receivers.
This open consortium has since been joined by Radio France
Internationale and we expect it will soon grow rapidly. (Stay tuned.)

There, the idea is to permit SW listeners to tune to a station by
pressing at most two buttons (one for the desired broadcaster,
the other for the desired language). The consortium is conducting
tests to establish the best mode to automatically update the
in-receiver databases which form the basis of ID LOGIC.

An ID LOGIC "SW" Simulator is also available via the Internet:
FTP download ID_SWxxx.ZIP from hk.net (/shareware/prs).
