APOLOGIES.
==========
The operator for the 80 metre transmission of the news last
Sunday (number 810 22/05/94) offers his apologies for the
failure to go to air. It was due to circumstances beyond his
control and it is hoped today will be operated normally. It
is known that most of the 80 metre viewers use this outlet as
a back-up or for interest only, using the 40 or 20 metre or
VKNET Packet distribution to obtain accurate copy, so
hopefully no-one was seriously inconvenienced....
          -----------------------------------------

WA storm
========
We have heard that only minor damage has been reported by ama-
teurs from Perth in Tuesday's storms. The major sufferers were
VK6CF who lost a large beam and other antennas, and VK6TN, the
HF Amtor mailbox station lost its long wire, which was
replaced posthaste, leaving the operator with a large load of
timber to turn into firewood -- it was a rather large tree.

In other cases, only tree damage to long wires was reported.
This is good news as the television coverage showed severe
damage which was apparently mostly confined to beachside
suburbs.

There was however an overnight city-wide blackout due to the
large number of power lines damaged by falling trees and other
debris. This report was received from Clem VK6CW who reported
no damage to his installation.
           ---------------------------------------

Now we have some news of Syd VK2SG who is recovering, albeit
slowly, from his quite debilitating illness. But the colour is
fine and Syd is getting around much better and on air every
day. Syd should be back to good health before long.
           ----------------------------------------

Anarts meeting will be held this coming Friday evening 3rd
June. Contact Jim VK2BQS, Col VK2CTD or Pat VK2JPA for further
information.

ANARTS Contest
Now we have our contest coming up shortly, so we began to
publish the rules last week. You are going to participate, are
you not ??

ANARTS WW RTTY/Digital DX Contest 11-12 JUNE Part 2
-------------------------
Contest period: from 0000Z Saturday to 0000Z Monday (48 hours)

Multipliers: each ARRL DXCC country, and each call district of
VK, JA, VE, and W count as separate countries on each band.
QSOs with ones own country is not valid for multiplier count.
(W6 may work W7 or W5 for mult, but no W6). Each continent QSOd
counts as a multiplier (maximum of six).

QSO Points: Use Exchange Points Table to determine QSO points.
(See the table in the RTTY Journal or apply to ANARTS for a
copy).

Scoring: Total QSO points x total multipliers x number of
continents worked (max. 6). After the above calculations,
world stations add 100 points for each VK QSO on 20M, 200
points for each VK QSO on 15M, 300 points for each QSO on 10M,
400 points for each VK QSO on 40M, and 500 points for each VK
QSO on 80M.

Awards: Awards will be issued for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place on
world basis, and also on country basis.

More next week
