Shoot the Messenger - Tantilizer Version
by Dirigible Software, 1994

Tired of seeing "reminder" screens, copyright notices, vanity displays, and
the like? Shoot the Messenger aims to solve the problem of unwanted, time
consuming MessageBoxes, DialogBoxes, Windows, and Event Sequences.

The basic scenario is this: You just downloaded a useful piece of software.
You like it, you use it... But, you haven't registered it yet (but, you
intend to, right?). You are happy 'cause you got some wares. The author is
happy because you will register it. BUT, what about all of those ANNOYING
screens that so much software is surrounded by? Why should you endure timed
Dialogs that stay up for 15 seconds, or screens that pop-up while you are
USING the software! Get rid of them!

STM solves these problems by stopping the displays from within Windows. The
suite of functions that are used by Windows (MessageBox, DialogBox [all
forms], CreateWindow [all forms]) have been 'routed' through STM. This gives
you the opportunity to identify the offending display and tell STM to
stop any attempt to show it... You have a multitude of options, and trace
mode makes configuration easy. Simply start STM, put it in Trace mode, run
your apps, then review the session and identify traps.

If a program foils these standard methods of displaying information, you can
resort to Event Sequences. STM recognizes many system events that will lead
to a display. If the display cannot always be identified uniquely, you can
configure STM to watch for a particular set of events to occur in a sequence
and tell it what to stop... beats the best of them!

This version is called the Tantilizer version. Many software programs use
standard MessageBox calls to annoy you with registration, copyrights, etc.
This version of STM handles only those programs. However, STM Elite (the one
that does it all) is only $10. Want the source too? $45. It is definitely
worth the time of a download to finally take control of your software.
