IVnet Internet E-Mail Gateway Project
Rules, Regulations, and Information
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i. What is the IVnet Internet Gateway?

The IVnet Internet Gateway Project is an optional service that is
being provided by Intuitive Vision Computer Services. This service
allows IVnet nodes participating in the project to send internet
e-mail messages through the IVnet Gateway Address. This is a
SERVICE, and Intuitive Vision Computer Services is NOT required to
        maintain this service indefinately.

ii. How does the Gateway work?

The IVnet Internet Gateway works in the following manner: Intuitive
Vision Computer Services maintains a UUCP account with an Internet
Service Provider, and will send and receive e-mail to the internet.
Those IVnet nodes that are participating in the Project will send
netmail addressed in a specific way to the Internet Gateway address
and the IVnet Internet Gateway will process this netmail and convert
it to an internet e-mail message to be sent out. Incoming e-mail is
processed at the Internet Gateway and converted into a netmail for
the system that it is addressed to. This netmail is then processed
        and routed accordingly.

iii. What will my address be?

Your address will be as follows:

        user.name%fnode.nnet.zzone[.ppoint]@ivsoft.com

an example of this is: George Roberts for 411:100/101

        george.roberts%f101.n100.z411@ivsoft.com

user.name is the name of the user in the netmail message, with all
        spaces converted into '.'

Again, this is highly dependant on exactly what the name is that
appears in the netmail message. If you are running a BBS/Message
software that allows aliases in the message bases, and you set the
base you are using to create e-mail messages from to use aliases,
the address may very well be something like:

        sir.twist%f101.n100.z411@ivsoft.com

It is up to you if you wish to use real names or aliases in your
internet e-mail, but the part of the address from the % on is NOT
        configurable.

iv. How do I send an e-mail message?

To send an e-mail message, you need to send a netmail message
addressed to UUCP at 411:411/5 (the internet gateway address). The
first line of text should be:

        TO: <address>

followed by *A BLANK LINE*. If your BBS/Message reader software
supports UUCP gated e-mail, it should take care of this for you. See
your software documentation for more information.

        Example:

        From: Dan Jones, 411:411/0
        To : UUCP , 411:411/5
        Subj: Whatever...

        Hi Kevin!

v. Conclusion

The IVnet Internet Gateway Project is a project that is provided as
a service to IVnet. Intuitive Vision Computer Services is happy to
provide this service, however, we do reserve the right to terminate
this service at any time, as circumstances dictate. We also reserve
the right to refuse this service to any nodes, again as circumstances
        warrant.

If you have any questions regarding the setup and/or operation of
the IVnet Internet Gateway Project, you may send a netmail to
        George Roberts at 411:411/2.

IVnet and The Intuitive Vision Network are Trademarks of Intuitive Vision
Computer Services.
