              			BOCAGE WALTZ II

			A Scenario for Steel Panthers

Installation:

Copy the files SCEN042.CMT and SCEN042.DAT into the directory \STEEL\SCEN\.
This will place it as the last scenario in the European section. If you
have already created a new scenario with this number, or have DL'd
someone else's, then simply rename the files to a free number, eg SCEN0??.CMT
and SCEN0??.DAT.

Scenario Description:

This scenario is a transcription of the scenario 'Bocage Waltz' from
Gary Grigsby's earlier game, 'Typhoon of Steel'. It does not represent
any particular historic confrontation, but is intended as a generic exposition
of the kind of fighting endemic to the hedgerows of Normandy's bocage country
in June/July '44.

The original scenario description from 'Typhoon' ran as follows:

"While breaking out of the Normandy beach-head, American armour and
infantry teams encountered fierce resistance in the bocage country or
Brittany. Battling from hedgerow to hedgerow, the American advance slowed to
a crawl as the point-blank fighting took a heavy toll on both the attackers
and the skillfully emplaced defenders."

Players Notes:

This is designed to be played as the American player against a computer
German. By all means swap sides, but don't expect too much of the AI in
this terrain.

The map is an adaptation from the original and features the sunken and
sometimes flooded fields and watermeadows that typify this part of N France.
The LOS is set to 40 hexes, but if you manage to see anything further than
10 hexes away, you're doing real well!!

The OBs are not exactly the same as the original to improve balance bearing
in mind the differences in the two systems. Having said that, it's
interesting how like the original it plays in it's Steel Panthers guise.

Time is tight - you need to keep moving and flanking - that's all the hint
you're going to get<g>

Feeback welcomed. I plan on converting 'Peiper on Point' next.

Thanks to David Roderick for playtesting.

Cheers,
